ks2me, just curious, why no RVH ? :?

This report ranks the school by prestige so I believe RVH may just be at position 11? Catholic High also fell off the list in this case.

Hey... I didn't know Mrs LKY is a MGS girl!

Also, I heard from somewhere that RI boys rule the nation while ACS boys own it... Ha..Ha...

Since we are at this topic about top schools, I can’t help sharing what I’ve heard from the grapewine recently.

At a recent school seminar, students were given the opportunity to pose questions to the VIPs, some of which were MPs. Heard that some students from top JCs came with 'canned" questions that were even longer than the answers given. This frustrated the MPs and the students were told to stop asking all these ‘canned’ questions. What followed were moments of silence. What saved the day later were the spontaneous questions asked by the 2nd tier JCs students.

Just some food for thought… kinda of sad situation, isn’t it?

For those parents with PSLE children, here's the much needed indicative guide only for top 10 sec schools (by prestige):

              - Raffles Institution ( PSLE cut-off : 263 )

              - Raffles Girls Secondary School ( PSLE cut-off : 265 )

              - Hwa Chong Institution ( PSLE cut-off : 259 ; SAP School)

              - Nanyang Girls High School ( PSLE cut-off : 262 ; SAP School)

              - Dunman High School ( PSLE cut-off : 259 ;SAP School)

              - Singapore Chinese Girls School ( PSLE cut-off : 254 )

              - Methodist Girls School ( PSLE cut-off : 253 )

              - Anglo-Chinese School Independent ( PSLE cut-off : 253 )

              - NUS High School of Mathematics and Science ( via DSA )

              - CHI St Nicholas Girls School ( PSLE cut-off : 250 ;SAP School)
NUS High does take a small number of students via PSLE. The PSLE cutoff point for last year is 260 (this is indicated in their website). Applicants need to have A* in maths and science.

Also, NJC not in the list... thought it is quite popular too. Btw, rank by \"prestidge\" means ? not by cut-off? sorry sua gu here...

Hi ks2me, may I ask where did you get this report? Is this an official report? Thanks.

I thought NJC is a JC while the list is referring to sec school only though the list of people mentioned might have later proceed to the JC section of the same school. In our history, twently years ago, those who came from Enlish school/stream could get job offer in the government service more easily than those from the Chinese school. That is no wonder why the list under HCI (should be the Chinese high then) and Nanyang is much shorter compared to the traditional English school. But now there is no such differentiation anymore, only the school tradition has perhaps carried on.

NJC has been accepting Sec 1 students since beginning of this year right? So should qualify under sec too

Yes, NJC is taking in students from Sec One as part of their integrated programme.
