Keeping my fingers crossed indeed.
Per balloting stats, those stay within 1km will not require balloting for CF. Wonder how many subsequent balloting places left for those >2km and the # of applicants in that category for last year? Anyone knows? -
Imp75:
2009 End Phase 2B CF results out : 96 applicants for 80 vacancies. Statistics looks promising end of Phase 2A2 which had approx 5% less applicants but sob sob above statement no longer valid- - applications suddenly \"overrun\" by more than 20% (past years only approx 15%). 16 pair of parents will be disappointed ... hopefully I am not the one (sorry, system forces me to be selfish -yaks!). By the way, I had been informed that in 2008 balloting >2km, it was 36 vying for balance 30 places.2003 is a low birth rate year and yet schools are still keeping their enrollment the same so chances of getting into CF under Phase2B without balloting is pretty high. Compare 80 places in Phase 2B this yr vz 67 places last yr (last yr, 77 applicants under Phase 2B).
I think your chances this yr is pretty high!
Interestingly, I thought Nanyang Primary manages their phase 2B application numbers/PV control really well this year. Numbers applied = numbers available, hence no balloting is required. Certainly more humane
& for those of you whom are interested to know, SHHK recommended 26 people for CF this year (PS: unofficial, I peeked or rather it's just in front for me to see). All SHHK registration is only in day 2 for CF. So it should be 71+26 = 97. 1 missing or simply change mind and drop out soul here, bless him/her :celebrate: .
Friday is THE day! Honestly, why does MOE have to subject parents through such unncessary stress I wonder? Why can't they administer primary school allocation like secondary's ie 1 phase indicating 1st, 2nd etc choices of school?
On the positive note, I had not been this excited for quite a while. Geez, if ever I get hook on lottery chances aka \"vice\", it's all kick start by P1 Registration :rahrah: -
radiantmum:
Uggh. I can imagine the state you are in now. But MOE cannot do P1 registration like Secondary school because there is nothing to measure how good one kid is compared to another before P1, unlike the PSLE results with which no one can argue over.... Chief, they can use back their current and old set of criterias if they wish but all in 1 phase. Nowadays all computerised - should not be difficult or perhaps I am too simple minded (sorry then no cure for that). But honestly, if phase 2B ends on tuesday why do they need to subject parents to extra stress till friday for the balloting? Not anxious also become anxious lah.
& roger on the month end auction. Once I (correction my kid) fate is settled by friday, will go check out how that works. 'cos simple minded me can only focus on 1 thing at a time  -
hi....I am really new here and really need advice. :?:
The more I read the thread the more worried I am for my boy born in 2005.
I am aiming for CF. And my boy phonics teacher also strongly recommended me to register him for CF.
Can Chief or anyone tell me my chance as below :
1. I will do PV for CF to clock in at least 40 hours to qualify for Phase 2B.
2. I am staying 1-2KM from CF.
What is my chance? Do I still need balloting?
Also how to register myself in the SHHK? Heard that I need 2 existing members to bring me in. Is it true?
Also hear say that if there is 96 places left, the priority will go to those stay less than 1km. Any vacancies left over then go to 1-2km and thereof?
My 2nd choice would be Northland. I stay less than 1km from Northland. But this put me in phase 2C. Slim chances also?
Now then I start blaming my parents, why din they put me in good pri sch when I was young

Dear jmiennmum, first off, take 2 deep breaths, breathe out slowly, and say to yourself each time - \"REEELLLLAAXXXXXX\". The whole P1 Registration process does not need to be stressful if you already know what your probability of getting into the school you want, and you work towards maximizing your chance of getting into that school. That takes time, and you have the time, given your child's registration in 2011.hi....I am really new here and really need advice. :?:

1. Rule #1. Be within 1km of the school you are targeting. If that cannot be arranged, you should ensure that the school does not have a history of balloting in 1km. If it does, look for another school. You will not have a chance of getting in that school.
2. Rule #2. Get Phase 2B priority for that school. Do PV, clan association, religious organization association, and last option - community work for the GRC that the school belongs to. This way, you have at least 2 chances (Phase 2B and 2C) to get into the school. But if you break Rule #1 and stay beyond 2km to the school, you may not even have a chance for Phase 2B or 2C.
The good news for you is Chongfu is been balloting for those beyond 2km in Phase 2B for the past 3 years. Of course, this also mean that you could encounter balloting in 1-2km in the year you apply, depending on the performance of Chongfu in PSLE in the years running up to 2011. It's anyone's guess at this point.
The other \"better\" schools in your area are Northland and Jiemin. Since Northland is less than 1km, why not consider it as your first choice, and get PV status for it?
Some parents actually PV in multiple schools. In your case, a possible strategy would be for you to get SHHK for priority in Chongfu, and do PV in Northland. That gives you Phase 2B status in 2 schools at the price of doing only 1 PV, an enviable position. Refer to http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=243, but the short answer to your question on SHHK is YES.
New parents tend to take the Primary 1 Registration as an end-point by itself. We find out very quickly that it is just a milestone that marks the start of even greater nightmares
with worrying about our children's education. Conserve your energy on the real task of preparing your child to have a smooth journey in Primary school. It's not worth losing sleep over trying to get your child into the \"best\" school you can.

there are 80 vacancies and 96 applications for CF. Based on history, balloting only happens for >2km. while we know 16 sets of parents will be disappointed, do we know at this moment how many parents need to ballot and for how many spaces? -
It's ok - no hidden maths numbers 'cos I dont know as well
I suppose we can call the school to ask or wait for some kindhearted soul to post it here. -
Okay I decided to be THE kind soul β¦ CF said this Friβs Phase 2B balloting is 36 applicants for 20 places (all >2km).
