I believe true motivation comes from push, pull factors.

A push would be if you come from an impoverished family, and you want to get out of that environment as quickly as possible, because it is unbearable.
A pull factor would be all your friends have had phenominal successes, and you feel pressured to succeed as well, to prove to others that you can do it.

Either way, the factors are constantly there throughout your life, pushing you on.

Adam Khoo’s courses or for that matter, any other motivational courses , can only provide a simulated push/pull environment for a short period of time.

The success cases are those where the child is already on the brink of success and it was only a matter of time, before the child achieves it. in comes Adam Khoo and he gives the child a little nudge.

For children who are far from the motivation threshold, attending such courses would not help at all. In such cases, enrichment courses are best to at least generate an interest in the subject.

Yup, I agree - attending such courses is a waste of money. Heard it is very expensive but I do not know exactly how much though. At the end of the day, ability to generate interest is important. A few motivation talks would just die after some time. Let your child have enjoy learning is more important. Not go for some motivational talks. Don't believe in that!

They were at the Kidz Academy a couple of weeks ago. Wanted to find out how much it will cost but they are very secretive. I must sign up for the preview then they will tell me. Why cannot share the price? I told them no point going for review if I cannot afford it. Anyone knows how much?

              Hi Jtparent,

I am also looking for a Math tuition programme for my DS, P4. Does Adam Khoo do Math? I called up a moment ago, and enquire about their JEI/PSLE Math programme, they seems lost.

                  Hi,

One thing to note is this:’ If it sounds too good to be true, or sounds like a miracle, it probably is’

These are all marketing strategies. Adam Khoo is a businessman talented in marketing, totally. He has the ability to package and utilizes the economies of scale to ‘trick’ parents into signing up with them.

My apologies to Neo, but can you elaborate further on your DS/DD who enrolled into Adam Khoo?

There are posts that are replied in favour to tuition centres that are generated by the same person. So please do some checking like the no. of posts that the person has made and whether it is leaning toward something. Yeah.

I am not saying that Adam Khoo methodology is no good or anything, but it definitely sounds too good to be true. Miracles don’t happen over ten weeks or few days, they require a combination of work and encouragement. And all these will take time. Doesn’t happen overnight. Perish that thought.

                  Regards,
                  Visual Text Education

I agree with you. In this forum there are also people promoting brain training with all kinds of claim like able to read blind folded. Feel sad for mummies that have paid hard earned monies to there operators.

I was proscatinating on wheather should I send my P1 girl to the camp. I know now the answer is NO, i should better save up the money for some motivational seminar in the future for her.

My girl is just a normal child who doesn’t like to do school work, but she continue to do the work whenever I press her without complain simply because she doesn’t want to see me angry. I know her lacking is on motivation and not so much on educational as like some forumner mentioned here, if it is the educational factor, we should look for tuition centre.
I guess at the end of the day, it’s still boil down to how much time are we willing to spend with our child plus how patience are we when we’re faced with our own child.
