I never brought my girl before but i guess it's alrightHi folks,
Just to check, will you bring your girl to school on friday... out of the blue, my girl wants to tag along. Should i bring her????? -
Will bring my girl along.
I figure out that whatever her teacher conveys to us in her presence, will sink in much better than I being the \"messenger\"

Yes KSP, the stds are high thats why u see 58/100 now and failures too…Generally there will be a big drop in P5. It gets more stressing especially with 4 subjects to work on. For Math…its more difficult and many of the students find it harder to handle as there are many new topics to be added on and got to think more out of the box…no more like in p4.
The marking standards are high and they have to maintain that way in preparation for P6.
The school normally start preparing the girls well for PSLE so they are doing quite a good job starting them out hard in p5 and by the time they reach p6, they would complete the syllabus and its revision time. More relaxing next year i guess.
I will try to check out the level average for last yrs P4 n post whatever i can find. -
Hi Moonee,
My DD is in 5E. Ya P5 Maths is a big jump, even Hubby and I can’t solve some of the section B qns…LOL! Strangely though the average is 58, there the highest is level is 100, this girl must be super intelligent!
Agree that the marking for section B Science is very stringent, i guess it’s good for the girls to get used to it for PSLE.
I’m quite worried about her weaker subjects, English and Chinese/HCL, not sure how to help her and think doing assessments books might not really help too. The progress would be slow and so thought better puck up in June. Any ideas how to go about doing it? -
hi,
is there any student care around the school or within the school? -
is there violin as cca in the school ? if Yes, how often do pupils practise in school per week ?
-
Hi ASLMUM, ur girl must hv been highly stressed out this term especially coming frm E class. Mine is not in E/F but the stress level is still there.
Looks like maths and science are the 2 most killer subjects, level average for science is 72.9, Oh yes, marking was rather stringent on Section B, need to focus on answering techniques, notice lots of marks were deducted even with th correct answer.
English seems to be more acceptable than MT this year especially H/C, The papers kind of hard this term. I too am thinking of how to help my girl improve in H/C, I normally sign her for oral classes during the holidays cos shes currently doing enrichment, I guess assesment books do help but my girl thinks alot depends on hw the paper is set.
I may have to get her a personal tutor to help with her chineses and also try other enrichment ctes during the holidays to see whats more suited.
What plans do u hv to improve yr girls chinese and eng?
-
Hi Moonee,
Have signed her up for a Chinese holiday program, but i think mainly just to boost her interest, will not help to improve the marks. I told her to do some 5A Chinese Assessment books, hopefully will be able to help. Will see how she cope with HCL in SA2, not sure if want to drop the subject?
So glad it's the last day of school today, at least can take a breather, though there's a stack of holiday assignments to complete

KSP:
my DD's paper also did not indicate the level average. the class average is 85.Luanee:
Does any P3 parents know what is the level average score for the SA1 maths paper? My dd's paper only indicated the class average, the level average score was not filled in..
My dd's paper also didn't indicate the level average too. Maybe need to ask during the PCD this Fri. -
phtthp:
is there violin as cca in the school ? if Yes, how often do pupils practise in school per week ?
There is violin cca in RGPS. There are 2 sections practice per week (Tues and Thurs 230-400pm)
