would appreciate deeply if someone can enhighlten me.

I understand for some of the \"hot schs\"...even in Phrase 2B as a parent volunteer also requires balloting, for eg; for St Hilda this yr..those that are in Phrase 2B but stay more than 2km away need to ballot, those within 1-2km all got in. For those that are unlucky and did not get the place, will they automatically get a place in Phrase 2C or they have to join in the rest of the crowd at Phrase 2C with no special privilege for doing PV earlier? Then they would not even stand a chance to ballot cause they are staying more than 2km?

*sign*..tried to be a PV at st hilda cuz it is so near to my place..within 1km... but did not manage to get in...very disappointing 😢 wondering whether to take the risk to ballot at Phrase 2C next yr! quite scary though to think to ballot!
Since no chance of balloting as you are more than 2km away, it is recommend to look for other schools as backup plan!

No automatic place in 2C. If so, why ballot in 2B in the first place? And you are right, if you are out of 2B on a balot, likely it will be worse for you in 2C. Its sad but true......

Those that failed in Phase 2B have to register afresh for Phase 2C with no special privileges. Yes, they may not even stand a chance to ballot if they are more than 2km away in Phase 2C.

Do read http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/understanding-singapore-primary-school-registration-processes for better clarity.

            Hi!

Everybody starts from a clean sheet of paper within any phase. Hence, there's no special privilege in Phase 2C if the PV can't get his/her child in to the school in Phase 2B. Within Phase 2C itself, the distance category sets in.

thanks for all the post…at least my doubts are answered. i need to register my boy for P1 next yr…hence now thinking whether to take the risk at Phrase 2C this yr cuz me staying less than 1km from St Hilda…

initially was hoping and praying hard can be accepted as PV so can secure the place…Pv+less than 1km…most likely can get it…but now contemplating whether to take risks at Phrase 2c next year! or to be safe…go to my ex-school in Yu Neng (Phrase 2A?) though not "hot" sch…but i heard people telling me it is good and my sis’s boys were from there…and both went to SAP schs in secondary… any advice? risk or not risk!? can donations still work for some schools???

i do agree with some of the posts…connections does counts alot! how i wish i know the principals of those hot schs!! & i do still believe schs will chose those parents who are better educated…high flying positions than the normal one like us…it is sad but true…

hihi, I am from Yu Neng also. Graduated in '87. You? Heard that it is quite popular now in Bedok, other than Red Swatiska.

If I were you, I would register in Yu Neng in Phase 2A first, then see what are the odds like in St Hilda in 2C. Decide from there.

Oh yes FMz, this is called PSG (parent support group), for parent who volunteer after their kids get a place in the school.

                        Hi ksmummy,

me graduated from yu neng in 88…ya…i heard alot of good comment abt it also…and they have been producing 275 students for the past few yrs. i guess most likely i will settle there. when do you need to register yr kids?

we can only register once in a phrase…hence if i register in phrase 2a already cannot try for st hilda at phrase 2c…this is what i understand.
