About 6 years ago. The year before that, it came close to balloting because the number staying within 1km exceeded places available by ONE place. In the end, the parents of one girl decided to pull out of SCGS and placed their daughter in RGPS instead. The other parents at SCGS were ever so thankful.Really! which year?
No alternative, how?

I am in the same situation as you.I've registered with NCPS yesterday. Decided to take a chance as I'm living within 1km from the school. It's 159 applications vs 72 vacancies as at yesterday. And definitely more to come. I visited another school Anchor Green (which is even nearer to my house). New school just started 2 years ago. I was thinking to register there if can't get a place at NCPS.
Looking at the statistics for Anchor Green, 88 applications out of 189 vacancies. I now worried whether I can get a place here if balloting unsuccessful at NCPS.
Can I still cancel my registration at NCPS now if I changed my mind? Or shld I just take my chances?
My worry is I might lose on both sides in the end.

I m really thinking of pulling out the application within though i am within the 1km. Am worried about balloting within 1km!. But SCGS has affiliation to itβs sec sch. Itβs a plus.

What is your back up plan if you pull out from SCGS ? -

Haha.. Really... So you are taking ur chances too? I went to Anchor Green yesterday and sort of \"interviewed\" the security guide there. He says the principal of the school is very good... And the kids are quite well-behaved. Best of all, I like it single session. -
My understanding is that Singapore has about 41670 Primary One School places.
After Phase 2B, 21440 students had been registered. Thatβs 51.45% -

you should only be concerned how many of those registered at NCPS are within 1km, only those staying within 1km are your \"competitors\".I've registered with NCPS yesterday. Call the school tomorrow afternoon or pay them a visit to know the exact number registered within 1km and assess your odds. If only marginally exceeded, you still stand a high chance of getting in during ballot.
judging from the number registered & vacancies available at Anchor Green, it is likely that they will have space available for Phase 2C supplement. So it should be safe as a backup school if you failed the ballot at NCPS.
Good Luck!
