My DD down with flu for the past week and when I brought her to the PD yesterday, he said that it might be \"The Flu\". I was scared like shit  and he did a swab test immediately which costs $40 and took 5 minutes. Luckily it is not Influenza A, otherwise I cannot imagine what I have to do especially I have a 3 mth old DS.

So, don't hesistate to go straight to get the test done as soon as the symptoms appear. The earlier the better...
A bit confused. Is test for H1NI available in HINIReady Clinics? I called one up and I was told it has to be done only in certain hospitals? Also offered in PD clinics too?

It's terrible... My nursery gg child had high fever since tuesday. At one stage, it went up to 40 degree.

Then the next moment, her pre-school teacher called to say there are 2 HFMD in her class and ask us to keep a watchout.

Not only must we watch out for H1N1 but we must also watch out for HFMD. We brought her to the clinic the moment she has fever (even before other symptons), the gp was like are you guys worried that she has H1N1,etc...? She suggested that we watch her for another 3 days and send us off with brufen and some cough mixture (just in case). For a moment, we felt like are we overreacting? But we thot early detection of any stuff is safer.... :?

The next day when her fever shot up, we brought her to the clinic again for fear of HFMD especially after the teacher's call and again the gp was like.... don't worry it takes a few days for the fever to go off, etc....

On another thot, when I was in the clinic, I felt like it's actually a riskier place to be as the chances of contracting something there is higher.

let me clarify that the test my dd did was for Influenza A. if tested positive, then need to send to hospital for H1n1 test which would take 24 hours. I'm not sure if the PPC's have the test available though.

            Hi MMM, hang in there!

I know exactly how it feels and how scary it can be when our kid's temperature hits above 40 degree and yes, all the pain from the dreaded HFMD.. šŸ˜ž

The sponging regime I use includes sponging with lukewarm water on forehead, nape, groin, armpits... I also use suppositrin in the night to help keep the temp down at night so that she can sleep better..

I also had the same feeling when I brought my DD1 to the clinic a few weeks back.. felt much safer waiting outside then only go into the Doc's office when our number was flashed.. 😐

did anyone see this company's flyers being circulated about disinfectant that is tested to be effective against the h1n1 virus?

called them and they said they can do disinfecting of the house or any premises like schools by fogging the place with the disinfectant.

              anyone tried them ?

              their website is http://www.ecoverve.com.sg

and anyone has any idea whether doctors normally certify the kids when they are well (no more flu-like symtom) to go back to school during the long 10 days mc period?

What I understand is, after the MC period of (3d, 7d or 10 d), and as long as you have no fever, you are allowed to go to sch.

Is that what your school does. My school said only if you can get the same doctor to certify then can go back.
