eduplus' principal runs 3 different types of centres; viz Eduplus, Story Island and EG2.
When my son was in pre-school, he went to Eduplus. Had lots of fun there as he gets to record his own lesson and bring home to revise. Teachers there are full of 爱心,every time the kids arrive, the teachers will greet them with '宝贝' or their names. I think the kids love them.
When he got to primary school, I did not want a class that gives him tuition ( in my words, re-teaching what the school has taught or teaching in advance), so I put him into Story Island. I was attracted more by the fact that they get to read story books and then present them to the parents at the end of every lesson. Recently, they opened up another class which they call the 专项班 ; (maybe this is what you mean by the higher chinese?) focus is on oral, compo writing. The kids still get to present the story but in their own words. Most of the time, I see that my son gets to learn new words rather than the same ones that he learns from textbook, which is important for my son because he gets bored easily.
I went to visit their EG2 class but never considered it though the curriculum looks interesting. 2 hrs per week and if I remember correctly, it is $60 per hour, which means $120 per lesson. :moneyflies:
I have never been to any other enrichment centres so can't comment on whether Eduplus is better or worse compared to the rest.
Hope this helps. -
Hi acforfamily
So have you heard of the Eduplus at Toa Payoh Safra? For the pre-schoolers, what sort of things do they do apart from recording, which I guess is getting the children to read a passage and have it recorded? And what do they bring back to revise at home? -

Dear parents,
Any parents been to any of these schools Tien Hsia / Beijing / Eduplus?
How do u find e school?
Thanks! :?: -
My DD goes to Tien Hsia at Orchard Shopping Centre. One thing that I really appreciate about them is that they are flexible on makeups. e.g. if you are travelling and if your kid is ill, you can simply call them and arrange for your kid to attend another lesson provided it is still in the same week. Otherwise, they will get the teacher to give extra individual time either before or after the next class. My sister who sends my nephew to Tien Hsia thinks they are good, shows results, etc. I am less on when it comes to tracking progress. But so far, my DD does not speak with angmoh accent, can recognise words and read some simple books (but not 100% correct), enjoys going to class. And one more plus point in my opinion, as she attends weekday classes, the class size can be really small, like 3-4 students to 1 teacher even at K1 level. Heard from some friends who went to Berries, the class was more crowded (i.e. more popular or lesser number of classes available??) and they resort to the nightime weekday class so that the teacher:student ratio would be better!!

Anyone tried MRC learning Centre? Seems like no one really tried Han Language Centre so should not really consider?
