Club Eastenders (From Kallang to Pasir Ris)
-
Hi jedamum
I don’t stay in Punggol but have some relatives and friends staying there. I have a friend also eyeing the same project, according to him, that’s the best location around Punggol area as it’ll be the nearest to the MRT station, plus quite close to the Punggol Marina (I think that’s what it’s called) sea sports project.
I think Punggol so far is not so congested as compared to sengkang, like comparing Pasir Ris to Tampines but of course, with so many housing projects in the pipeline, it may be different next time. -

Yes! When I read that it is the best location, near to MRT and the proposed waterway development, my kiasu genes kick in!Hi jedamum

But my husband said that by then, my ds1 may be influenced by his friends in the choice of Secondary school and relocation by then may affect him adversely.

Hi, I'm from the east too. This is a good website for parents who wish to find out info about the happenings in our education system'.
hello,
me also a newbie! Which part of the East do you reside in? and wat are the frequent places you bring your kids during weekends? maybe we can exchange ideas!

I'm staying @ Upper Boon Keng, very near to Kallang MRT. Hv been staying there for 10 yrs since married but my hubby has been staying there for 30yrs.
i love the food at the bendemeer/boon keng food centre. hehe i remember the ppl there, near the coffee shops, palm reading and fortune tellers, the hectic shopping with cheap and gd stuff during lunch hours.ChiefKiasu:
... wow, kallang.... near where i stayed b4 marriage. Stayed at Geylang Bahru for more than a decade! Which part of Kallang are your Kallangs?

Geylang Bahru? That's where I spent my Primary and Secondary school career, at least before the renamed it to Upper Boon Keng Road. We moved there from our Mattar Road unit at the end of 1973.
Boon keng macdonalds bring back lotsa memories too. when i was 14, me and some frens got caught by the patrolling police for drinking beer in public. hahahahah i think we were at the void deck or something. and remember the dunkin donut shop? hehehe

Yes, Parkway Parade is the grand old dame of a mall in the east. But I think Tampines Mall, Century Sq, and the latest Tampines 1 are not too bad too...ChiefKiasu:
... Just like many of you, I have this stubbornly-biased love for the east. Parkway Parade and Pasir Ris Beach play a huge part in my decision to remain here...
High five, JoyJoy78! From one eastern lover to another, although I wouldn't put Parkway Parade as the reason to stay in the east... it is like the ONLY place that is worthwhile shopping in the east.
Sometimes hubby & I park our kids at Tampines Ikea smaland so we can do some serious grocery shopping next door at Giant in peace. :D
hi hi
we love tampines ikea too. my girl loves to play inside the children furniture section (that slide) and play with some chair where u hide in it, pull down the covers and can be swivelled around like mad. haha. My hubby likes their refillable coffee at the Bistro. The hot dogs and ice cream cone. hmmm we such gluttons.
FREE PARKING!@ @_@
sometimes where we go depends on the parking. For example, we will not go town on saturdays due to ERP at orchard etc. Sundays we willl go if necessary. Parkway we will go after 6pm for the per-entry charges. (My girl love to go Borders and pretend to be intellectual ;P) And not to mention Parkway's 3rd flr's Kiddy rides outside Isetan! The Barney is her must-sit! $1 per ride, ouch!
For cheaper kiddy rides, do go to BHG Bugis Junction 3rd floor. There's an children arcade/amusement area, and all the rides are 50cents each, lasts longer and for some games, they can get those tickets dispensed from the machine and exchange for a pen or something.
It's good that at this forum, mummies are able to exchange and find out info how to make our kids' lives more interesting and mummies' lives less stressful!
So much to read, so little time! hahahahahaah cos i work full time. But can surf here during working hours is sort of a blessing in disguise already. hehe.
Cheers,
Joy  -

Punggol is less crowded than sengkang. Compasspoint carpark is always full and require waiting time. We go to the library there sometimes. Compasspoint is like soooooo crowded. How abt Punggol Plaza? We only went there once ages ago back in 04 or 05 when I was pregnant. There is this shop that sells alot of baby stuff.
