[Bukit Merah] Primary Schools

Hi QMS,
Seem like the Principal behaves like a Commanding Officer showing the power of Radin Mas Primary? Very different where I saw her during my PV oridentation day. You have any info on the following :
(1)What are the 6 softwares the child would learn? Have Certificate of Achievement?
(2) Reprimand parents? Wow Principal so busy already still can make tel call?
(3) Compulsory camp P1? Camp at where? 7days 6 night at Mount Faber or Telok Blangah Hills?
(4) Single gender class? Wow so good but what are the pros & cons?
(5) She told parents that life in RMPS would not be easy, and for parents who do not want their children to go through it, please withdraw their children.
Wow already registered already a place still ask people to withdraw? Just have to physically & mentally prepared loh.
Do also includes me in the test/exam paper exchange program. -
Hi Titank!
Here are the answers to your questions.titank:
She didn't mention which 6 softwares, but she indicated that for parents with presentations to make, and if they were too tired, they could let their children help out. By P3, the children would have learnt MS Powerpoint.(1)What are the 6 softwares the child would learn? Have Certificate of Achievement?
titank:
Don't be surprised if the principal really calls.(2) Reprimand parents? Wow Principal so busy already still can make tel call?
To hquek, I think it's only for the recalcitrant. It remains to be seen whether the principal actually carries out what she claimed she would do. Perhaps she only wanted to give parents \"Xia Ma Wei\"?titank:
Yes, compulsory camp even for the P1s. Not too sure where. The principal only mentioned the P6. For 2006, the P6 students went to Malaysia. For 2007 and 2008, the students went to Indonesia.(3) Compulsory camp P1? Camp at where? 7days 6 night at Mount Faber or Telok Blangah Hills?
titank:
I think this is something which you need to consider and discuss with your spouse. Personally, I feel that since I have chosen RMPS, I should be comfortable with my child mixing with children of the opposite gender. If I had wanted my son to mix with boys only, I wouldn't have gone to RMPS in the first place.(4) Single gender class? Wow so good but what are the pros & cons?
titank:
That's right. Be prepared. Be fully prepared.....(5) She told parents that life in RMPS would not be easy, and for parents who do not want their children to go through it, please withdraw their children.

Hi QMS,
Wow must be operationally prepare in RMPS. Any idea the Principal said she going to bring RMPS to attain SEA (School Excellent Award)? Did you the other 2 Vice Principals?
Ha.ha see whether our kid would be in the same class. -
How about CHIJ? how many vying for ? places :x >2KM
thks  -
FMz:
Thanks FMz and ChiefKiasu for the prompt advice. My opinion is, just go for your priorities if you have the time & your heart can take the pressure of balloting
Blangah Rise will not be filled even @ Phrase 3, so tats pretty easy to chose rite?
By the way, ur nicks neat, ur kiddo collect Bakugan as well? we have 24pcs but dunno where she chunked it now since she into Yoyo nowadays
My pc crashed at the crucial weekend :stupid:
In any case, we were the unfortunate 30 who failed at RMPS.
I feel for the parent whom qms mentioned abt \"living so near that he can throw his kid to school\" cz I too live v near.
But it's too late for stuff like that anymore...
I think the advice given here is the logical thing to do.
GESP first then BRPS (no offence to BRPS entrants).
But somehow it just burdens me that DS will be \"suffering\" the consequences of my decision and action for the next 6yrs
As for the rest of us who failed at Phase 2C, let's brace up for the next heart challenge on 19 Aug! :!:
Thanks everyone. -

Yes, must be prepared in RMPS. Geezz... I wonder who's attending school, our children or ourselves?
No, she didn't mention anything about the SEA.
The school now only has one Vice Principal, and yes, she was there this morning. In fact, she was the one who read out the numbers and names.
The principal, when she introduced the Vice Principal, said that they had very outstanding Vice Principals, because so far, all their Vice Principals had been promoted.
Let's see whether our kids will be in the same class or not. If not, the fact that they will be school mates is an affinity in itself. -

So sorry to hear that you were not successful. In fact, my husband and I were :x when the principal said that \"96 for 65 places - very good chance, right? Two thirds will get in! Last year it was only 25%.\" She forgot that last year, balloting was only for those in the 1-2 km category!
I suppose you will be in the 1-2 km for GESPS, right? Yes, you should go for GESPS first. That was our contingency plan, too, because like what Chief KS said, there will definitely be places in Blangah Rise even AFTER Phase 3. I suppose GESPS is more convenient to you, too. So, don't despair. :rahrah: You have the KSP.com parents behind you.Bakugan:
Please do not think of it this way. Your son will be upset to you so upset, right? :hugs: Good Luck to you in GESPS! :xedfingers:But somehow it just burdens me that DS will be \"suffering\" the consequences of my decision and action for the next 6yrs

Hi Bakugan,
Sorry to hear that you are not successful in the RMPS balloting.GESPS still have about 40 places In phase 2C supplementary. It has a student care centre run by YWCA & really benefit for Working Parents. It is understandable that BRPS is not often discuss in here, it would take a miracle to happen just like Radin Mas. Before 2000 RMPS is also not popular at all. -
Bakugan:
QMS, Bakugan, I'm one of the unfortunate 30s who failed at RMPS too. No point for me to look back and regretting not doing PV for RM last year, or even reg at RV in P2A2 or CHIJ at P2C. Will be going to reg at GES this Fri, as GES is opposite my in-law's block. Hopefully this time round, can get into GES.
