      Hi joyceling,

ya..St Hilda actually would not call u if u are not selected. But me and hubby die die want a black & white answer..lol...hence wrote to sch..sch wrote to the Parent Support Group chairwoman..and then she replied lor...said not shortlisted...& said they dun usually write to reply if you are not shortlisted..they take it, you would know if you did not hear from them. To me, no matter what, accept or rejected, I feel it is only right and polite for them to reply! they already had a briefing in early Jul for those selected parents. your kid need to register next yr for P1?

see this yr Phrase 2C for St Hilda....me do not dare to try at all already! too risky!

So St Hilda's is the type of stuck up pattern?Apply PV whether successful or rejected is \"No Sound No Picture\" (没声没戏)

          Hi Joyceling,

Ya.this is 4 in 1 for St Hilda! too scaring to take this type of risks if you still have alternatives! but if don’t have any other alternatives and nothing to lose…can still try! hehe…tat is why my neighbour is trying and is going for the heart thumping balloting today! so do you have any other alternative schools in mind (if you do not mind sharing) cause i am still thinking abt my ex-school or a church affilated school which i can apply for Phrase 2B but then is more 2km

My daughter is due for 2012 registration and I am thinking of doing PV work - nearest girls’ school is CHIJ OLQP but is still more than 2km away. Can you kind parents pls advise me on the following?

            - Is it too early to apply for PV for 2012 registration?
            - Do I call up the School to ask for a PV application form?
            - What are the chances of getting in for Phase 2B for this school? (I checked the balloting history and no indication of balloting conducted for phase 2B over the last 3 years)

Not sure if this is a good move coz she will actually qualify for 2A regis if enrolling in her elder bro’s school, but we thought we may want to try for a catholic school for her since we are catholics.

            Appreciate your advice and ‘wisdoms’!

                Laughing-Hyena,

-Since you are a Catholic, I believe you can actually qualify under 2B via church affliations? Do you need to do PV? Maybe you can check with your chuch and the school as well to confirm this point.

                - When u say 2012 registration, I presume your child is starting P1 in 2013? In that case, closing date to beaccepted as a PV would be June 2011. But some schools do open their PV application earlier. And yes, it would be good to call up the school for an application form. Different schools have different practices with regards to PV application, so it is best if u call up to enquire about theirs directly.

-There are no indication of balloting for the school in 2B for the last 3 years because no balloting was required, ie all 2B applicants get accepted regardless of where they stay. However do note there is an increasing trend in 2B applicants since year 2006. Both PVs and church affliates are under the same 2B category.

                - If you are worried that 2B is not assured of a place since you stay out of 2km, what you can do is to register your dd under 2A2 first, then monitor the application situation in OLQP. If the number of applicants are less than no of vacancies in 2B, you can then withdraw from the first school and register in OLQP.

                Hope my explanation helps. 🙂

                  hi happy to be mum,
If 2c, i think i will go for poi ching.
still within 1 km. my girl is actually strong in chinese. I donot mind going there. I think I already done my best for her....trying to get the PV.we have went through briefing and 2nd interview with the person-in-charge.
( just my thought, i think the process of selecting the PV is quite bias. she will reject some of the parent who stay within 1 km, she think we still can try in 2c, and take in those who stays above 2 km. She think they can be PV for longer time. And the true is those stay above 2km wil have to ballot. Do not know what she is thinking.Maybe she is one those who stay above 2km last time.) :siao:
I think most important is parent and child 's own will to study, as long as the school is good enough for your child, I am ok . I have a few friends's daughters is from neighourhood schools, they are doing well and get into nayang girl high, raffles girl and dunman high. So it all depends on you as a parent to support your children and their willing's to study.

Agree that the selection process for PV is not transparent enough. Last year, applied to be PV at Nan Chiau Pri school and was rejected without an interview and no reason given. This is despite listing down many areas of expertise which I could contribute to the school. Subsequently, I hear from others that due to overwheming no. of applications, they shortlist those non-working parents as they are more readily available when the school needs to 'activate' them... Not sure if it is true but certainly, some degree of biasness is involved.
