for me credit card is always exact, and if you pay cash they round down. which is fair since credit card incurs extra charges on the part of the businesses…

I dont think its legally right to round up any bill without the explicit consent of the payer.

          Any leagal-eagles around?

            3Boys:
            poo_power:

This is the first time my total bill is being round up when I pay by credit card.

Staff at Beanstro - coffee bean n tea leaf at marina bay sands say it's their system n they can't do anything about it

Imagine how much profit they make when even the bill is one cent, they round it up to five cents :stompfeet:

Well, the bill will never be 1 cent, would it? So how big was the bill and how much did they round it up by?

            3Boys,
My bill was $57.32 and they round up to $57.35.
Next time, wont be surprised if my bill is rounded up to $58 and maybe in time to come, even to $60!!

Can you just imagine how much profit they would make just rounding up all customers' bills ??

There no such thing as \"Free lunch\" but now, what this company has done is telling me otherwise ... They are getting \"free money\" from customers!!

Received a reply from The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf :

\" ... we would round down the final figure to 0.05cents to remove the need for 0.01cents.
This configuration was found to have been affected after a recent downloading of
software to the system which has now been rectified\"

They were also generous to offer Bean Buck vouchers for the inconveniences caused.

And yes, i appreciate the management for their service recovery and
i will be going back to MBS coffeebean to ensure \"all are in place\" ... 😂

Eg, go Giant grocery shopping, if the bill is $10.11, then this amount will be charged to the credit card. But if I pay cash, I would pay only $10.10 (?)

I was also asked to pay the round up amount when i was using NETS.

                  The eatery is Old Town!

I asked the cashier, and they said its their system. I am NEVER going to eat there again.

Similar experience for me at a snacks kiosk at Pasir Ris park. When we asked the cashier why we were charged more than the actual price, her curt answer was \"Surely you don't expect me to round DOWN ???\" . :scared:

Amazing business sense and customer service! :siao:
