I do not knw other pri sch system but NA’s teachers always changed. My son’s class teachers always changed. Fm P1 till now. Mayb he’s unlucky. How abt yrs? Do u find they’ve quite a bit of Eng Workbks to do?

I think u hv to check e sch bag everyday. I remembered they've to do all the maths worksheets. How many maths workbook? Does he copy the chinese words in every chapter tt e teacher give?
Well u hv to think carefully for yr DD. There's good n bad.
My son also said he is scared the first time he took bus home. But after a few times, he is OK now.
I couldnt get into Red Swastika for him becos within 2km still has to ballot. Then I chose NA. But also need ballot. Well, both time no luck. Then I put him on waiting list. Thereafter, he got in Tanjong Katong but NA called me said theres a place. So I hv to go to NA to take e form then went to TK to do transfer. Its very troublesome. So when I think of my girl, I think I m in the same boat as u!

i used to check his bag everyday when he was in P1 and 2, but now he is already in P3, i felt he shld have some responsibilities in his own duty.
i wanted to trust him, but i think i shld go back to my checking of bag again :skeptical:
i see him doing his math and science h/w sometimes but seldom on chinese. anyway, ytd i took out his chinese workbook and ask him if those need to be done, he said yes. if i didnt ask, i doubt he will do! strange thing is, it seem \"alright\" when h/w were not done, i asked if his teacher will punish him if not done. he said \"ya, scold abit\"..to me, scolding to him is small matter and he can get away with it :frustrated:
i was so cross with him.

Red Swastika is a good school and ya, i really hate balloting.
haiz, i am also in a dilemma if i shld really put DD in NA..

ok, i tell u how the changes in DS's teachers, then u tell me if this is considered often.

P1 & P2- Same Form teacher (with occasional MC or on course). heard my son mentioned form teacher not in school a couple of times. But i have spoken to the form teacher during \"meet-the-parent\" session, and i find her quite a delicate and passionate teacher.at least better than his current P3 form teacher.
chinese teacher changed twice in a year. the latter one is very good and she feedback to me how i shld improve my DS chinese. she is teaching the chinese calligraphy- Lin LaoShi.

P3 - same form teacher since starting of P3. he is also teaching Math, i find him rather 'careless\". i noticed some of the problem sums he marked, the answers were wrong but he actually marked a tick. and it happened a couple of times. i can only conclude he didnt bother to go thru the workings and checked before marking.

science teacher just changed after term 2 which DS complain she is very fierce and doesnt allow the class to talk. she told the class to mentioned the \"numbers\" when they wanted something.
For example, Nos 1 - Go to the toilet. Nos 2 - Ask a question about the topic....etc
so if you want to go toilet, just raise hand and said Nos 1.
i was :shock: when i heard this...duno if i shld take DS's word seriously
chinese teacher still the same

for the English workbook, i found that some were never used at all. i ask DS, he said the teacher didnt ask them to do, i find it such a waste when we were asked to buy and yet never touch. some of the workbook were only done a few pages and then not touch since then. in the end, i get my DS to use it as assessment book and do it at home.

Sori to reply so late as I just got back from overseas.
Was shocked to hear tt asking No 1 or 2 etc. Mine, well, can u imagine one to two weeks before exams then change chinese teacher? I got a shocked as exams drew near and the teacher just quit! I think this is in P3 then. P1 n 2 also on n off change teacher or teacher took leave for personal reasons. As for now, P4, begining the english teacher is a senior teacher in e sch, then came a trainee teacher to teach in e class but was told e english teacher will monitor. Can u imagine a trainee teacher?Not yet even to take NIE. That’s to teach them for half a yr. After e mid year sch holiday, I was shocked to learnt tt his class teachers all changed except e form teacher! Also, during the mid term, the form teacher has to go for reservist and also quite close to e exam period. Well, I do not knw if all sch in S’pore faces this problems. I hv spoken to e V.P. This is inevitable!
Also, I make sure to check their sch works. Any mistakes, I call e sch n request to speak to e teacher in charge! This is to keep e teachers on toes so tt they knw we parents check n they better pay attn. I d point out e mistakes tt they’ve marked wrong! So b brave n call e teacher in charge. Give them a wake up call!

my SIL told me her son's school keep changing teachers too. but that happened in lower primary
i suspect they put the senior teachers in upp primary and trainees or new teachers in lower ones.

DS's is a male form teacher, i am sure he has got reservist to do too, i hope it do not happen near exam period.

i am actually checking on the teacher marking while checking my son's h/w. then i realised how come the answers are wrong and yet the teacher give a tick :? :scratchhead:
then i told my son to tell the teacher to call me (i always have problem looking for them), but till now, no one call me...haiz

I'm new to this forum. i have read the posts and they are really updating my knowledge of Ngee Ann Pri which my son is in class 1Unity this year. His form teacher is very good & nice.
But recently my son has problems with one of his teachers whom i think have an attitude problem esp. towards him. It very much saddens me, as my son is definately not the mischevious type. My son goes for English remidial classes on Fridays after school & the teacher is Ms Tay S.P who is also the form teacher of 1Love class. My son has chinese combine class with a few of the kids from Ms Tay's class. And one of them is always picking up on my son & disturbing him until the extend of kicking my son in his groin. So i went to talk with Ms Tay & asked her nicely if she would talk with that child. She seems unhappy when i told her that a kid from her class is hurting my kid. So during the English Remidial class my son raised his hand to answer a question she asked. I don't mind if she don't choose him to answer. Instead she said infront of the whole class to my boy : \" I DON'T LIKE TE**AY (my kid's name) SO I DON'T LET HIM ANSWER\".
My son felt hurt & depressed. I don't understand how could a teacher use such words to a kid who is the victim of the GROIN incident when the one who is wrong is the kid from her own class.
So called the school to book an appointment to meet the Principle but was rejected by the clerk. It is not the 1st time this Ms Tay has been saying nasty things to my boy & the other pupils. I feel that for a school with such a teacher the school is doing quite badly with their Teacher's dicipline.
Now i am waiting for the school to call me on Monday & see if this matter can be resolved. My son now has a phobia & refused to go to school he keeps saying that the teachers will catch him & threathen him. I feel so sorry for my son.
Some parents have told me perhaps i should just take this chance to transfer him out of Ngee Ann Pri. I starting to think that i should not have put him in this school in the first place.

sorry to hear abt ur son's plight, i am sure he must be very frighten to see Ms Tay now.
i know which teacher you are talking about.
she used to teach my son during lower primary.
i have seen and spoken to her a few times. she is an out-spoken teacher, feedback to me abt my son's attitude and work on and off. she even call me when things are rather urgent. i actually prefer it this way than some of the teachers who couldnt be bothered at all.
i do not know why she speck to her students like that, if its the truth, then is very uncalled for. let me go back and check with my son, bcos sometime he tends to keep things from me after the teacher scolded him (maybe afraid i will scold him too)
have you tried to call and talk to her abt this incident? something are better to clarify with the teacher after hearing what the child had said.
meanwhile, u wait for the school to get back to you.

Thank you so much for your kind reply. It is very heart-warming for me to know at least there is someone out there who care enuf to be a listening ear. Thank you once again.
The school did not get back to me today as promised. My son didn't go to school today. And seems like due to some stress he has gotten a cough... sign... I'll wait another day... maybe the school is really too busy to take care of my problem or they think it is just a small matter cannot be bothered.
As for Ms Tay she is only concerned about her own class, bcos she was social studies teacher for my son's class & infact she ever told my son's whole class during Social Studies that she dislike the UNITY class. I too wonder why she is like that.
I just hope things can be solved asap. I can't keep going on keeping worrying & depressed about my son in school.
I'll keep an update about this matter.

Phone the school and ask to speak to V.Principal. Leave your name, son’s class and contact and I am sure he will call you back soon. Talk to him and arrange a meeting together to see Ms Tay and him. I think it is better.
After the meeting, ask the V.Principal if you can change your son to other class. I am sure they can work out something. The most your son can don’t go for the remedial class. Also, there is special needs teacher in the school. Any problem, go to the teacher and I am sure they can help out.

I called the school on Tuesday morning. It was the Am whom i talked to last Friday. She didn't get back to me on Monday as promised. When i called her she just said the VP is very busy... so till now nothing has been done. So she promised to TRY to talk to him on Wednesday... I'm thinking for this matter they are not going to do anything. As for going to the school's office actually the staffs in the General office are mostly unhelpful & mononous. Only smiling & nice depending on their moods. If they are busy or something they won't even look at you no matter how long you stand at the counter.
Perhaps i my face looks \"Sway\" so usually i get such treatment from the school. But really \"Sway\" or not i think i still deserve a fair treatment for the sake of my son in school.
