I am within 1km of JPS. -
Congratulations Lahburlug and cocoNut! My son has also been registered at JPS. Maybe our children would be classmates next year:)
Actually, am rather pleased with JPS when I last visited it. I understand that the children are involved in the care for the garden and Pri % kids get to grow vegetables that are eventually sold, where proceeds go to charity. Students are also involved in community work. All these give me the impression that the school does not just stress on academic excellence but charater building as well. However, being a true blue kiasu parent, I am still wondering if I should still try to get him into schools that are typically very good from academic perspective. I am wondering if I should still try to put my kid on waiting list at those schools…What are you views or any insight info on the academic performance of JPS? -

There's no harm putting yourself on the waitlists to create more options for yourself, but in all honesty, I feel that you should give JPS more time to demonstrate the benefits it can bring to your child, and not only on the academic front. -
Thanks for advice Chief!:) It’s just that am two hearts about this issue…

just wanted to share my experience.
my son's due for registration nxt year and i had originally wanted to put him in rulang. i applied for pv and was turned down and friends were shocked because all were quite sure that i wud get it due to the content of my volunteer.
i decided against appealing and have now decided to look at both yuhua and jurong primary. both are within 1km. very good for us because the boy can walk to school
yuhua - if my friend's right, they have changed their principal recently (former principal was my friend's uni-mate. heard she's left for shanghai) so there could be a change in in the management of the school's administration, methods, targets etc.
my dh prefers jps for what seemed to me a more all-rounded curriculum. i'm going to drop by the school to take a look afterwards. -
