Hi
I am now very lost and very sad since yesterday balloting results.
I am less than a km away from Rivervale Primary which was registered at phase 2C. After the unsuccessful entry , we have to look for other schools but all around my area such as Mee Toh or Compassvale Primary are already fully occupied. Choices left with plently of vacancies are North Spring , Seng Kang Primary or as far as Greendale Primary at Punggol. The comments about these schools are not ideal . Should I try to ballot for Edgefield for phase 2C supplementary? I had not slept since yesterday as am very bothered about my girl to travel to the school.
What should I do?
I am also 1 block away from Rivervale Primary School and my girl did not get in. It really doesn't make sense but we have to accept it. I have applied for Edgefield Primary School and have to go through another balloting on 19 Aug. I also have not slept well.......can't wait for this to be over. -

No, it doesn't make sense, but it is a fact of life in Singapore and we have to make do with what we have. We provide the P1 registration stats in the hope that parents will find it early enough to be useful for their planning. It is clear from the stats that Rivervale has a consistent history of balloting for under 1km, and hotly contested too with odds almost as bad as 1:4. This is probably due to the very high return rate of siblings staying in area taking up most of the vacancies as early as Phase 1.
Knowing this allows a parent to plan ahead if you want to get your child into Rivervale for whatever reasons. The obvious tactic would be to do PV or community work in order to get into Phase 2B, where success is almost guaranteed for Rivervale based on historical facts. Otherwise, a parent can only hope for the best in Phase 2C, where there will be more upset than happy parents wondering about the fairness of the system. -
Having gone throught the P1 registration myself, i totally know exactly where you are coming from. I realised these days parents donβt seems to mind the travelling distance for their kids as such we will see a trend of kids coming from far to a neighbour and thus for pple staying near to the school need to travel far cos being balloted out. On top of that if you are staying near to a "popular" school, some parents will do PV to enhance their chance and this will thus have a significant effect to the nos when it comes to phrase 2c. 5yrs ago, i donβt see popular schools in neighbour need balloting at all in phrase 2c.
mommyof2: For now secure her a place 1st, and I believe she will shine in any school she will be in. -

Congratulations aaadaddy! Feel happy for you that u dun need to go thru another balloting, and better still, no need for Phase 3 :celebrate:
Official no. of applications for Anchor Green given on the MOE website is 85. So only one parent did not submit after collecting the form. From your figures, quite safe to conclude those within 1km are safe from balloting :celebrate:Papa:
Latest update from Anchor Green. I registered this morning but too kan jiong. Went there at 4.25pm just now to find out the total number of applicants. The teachers told me :
within 1km : No need ballot
more than 1km : Need ballot
Saw from the registration numbers in the red basket stopped at 87. Think there are 86 applicant this year. -
Hi,
Anchor Green 85 registered for 79 places for 2C supp and wthn 1km no need ballot? then i really wasted my chance of not balloting for NanChiau or Compassvale at phase 2C as i am wthn 1km from Anchor Green. I dared nor ballot seeing that 253 will be unsuccessful from the 3 schools tt need balloting and registered with Anchor Green straight away. Sigh that Compassvale is the nearest from my place 5-10 mins walk and Anchor Green need to take school bus :stupid: .
Sometimes really hate myself for being so conservative and think too much. Life is so unpredictable.
Just hope that Anchor Green is a good school.
Heard that they are building something for student care centre wthn the campus. Pending for vendors.

Guess I took the 'tougher' route to go for balloting at Nan Chiau before settling for Anchor Green. Was hoping that my lucky star shines and could get a place for my son in Nan Chiau so that my two younger girls will benefit as well. Nevertheless, you did not have to stress over Phase 2C Supplementary as I had the same worry that Anchor Green will need to ballot within 1km too. At least you didn't have to go thru' that... just a matter or choice and how much stress you want to take... dun think about it now that the dust has settled.Hi,

It is indeed a huge load off my back. But just wondering... virtually all of us (or is it just me) seems to think that unsuccessful applicants under Phase 2C Supplementary need to go thru' Phase 3. However, from what I have read on the MOE's website, it seems that MOE will post these group of children to the nearest schools near their home that still have vacancy ie. they need not compete with the non-citizens under Phase 3. Anyone has anything to share on this?

aaadaddy,
I oso got 2 younger gals. Will u put your 2 yougner in the same school in Anchor Green ? Or try Na Chiau again when their time come ? But placing them in different school is kinda of inconvenient and weired right ?
Guess see how Anchor Green will fare but not in time to see their PSLE results by the time my no.2 is due for registration. Redream nightmare again.
Got insider news that Anchor Green principal has the ambition to make the school one of the top school in Sengkang. Wonder whether she had managed that with Whitesands during her time ?

Same as you, I'm under the impression that children who are unsuccessful in securing a place under Phase 2C supp will have to go thru Phase 3 which is 1st come 1st serve.
I've made a call to MOE to enquire. For those who are unsuccessful under Phase 2C supp, they will be contacted and given a form from the school (registered at Phase 2C supp). Parents will be asked to list out 3 schools of their choice, that still have vacancies and MOE will try to post their children to one of those schools.
And if at that, the child still could not secure a place, then will have to go register at Phase 3.
But guess MOE will want to make sure that all Singaporeans & PRs children get a place first before foreign children does.
:celebrate: Congrats again at your successful registration for ur kids at Anchor Green. To me, I felt that this school have alot of potential. Barely 3 years, the school already have made achievements in some competitions. In time to come, I'm sure they will achieve more. If my balloting at NCPS is unsuccessful, I would really want my kid to study in Anchor Green too.
