      dragonball:
When I was in Japan 2 years back, there is this craze with those step meter (not sure what the real term is), it is a device that keep tracks of the number of steps that you have taken.

Alot of Japs bought these devices to keep track and make sure they walked at least 5000 steps to be get enough exercise. Suppose this can be a useful gadget for the kids. Haven't tried it out though
I think that thing is called a pedometer... comes with quite a number of those casio watches. I thought the in-thing is now the iPod+Nike shoe thing which has get GPS and music rolled into one.

The only gadget that I still use now is the waterproof MP3 player which I use for my swimming. It's really wonderful to listen to music while swimming... very peaceful and makes you forget you are exercising. The only trouble is keeping the plugs in your ears... keeps falling out.

If I can’t force myself to exercise…I will enrol in a dance class…kekeke. I think that is more fun than just running on a treadmill.

Yah boy... I 2nd the motion for the skipping ropes - effective and virtually free.

Now... if only I can find my kneecaps which fell out after my 5th jump.

Skipping ropes… that seems so long ago for me. My kid likes to run around and go to playground, so probably that is some kind of free exercise.

Roller blading and cycling is also a good kind of exercise for kids since they learn things fast. And it is quite affordable as well.

Is it necessary to get a good pair of running shoes for children or any shoe (school shoe) will suffice?

I think for running a good pair of shoes help prevent injury/wear and tear of the knee caps bah. Running/climbing around the playground …think kids find it best to go shoeless for max grip?

oh i see...thinking of introducing my so-active-todd to jogging...he has plenty of energy to expend. 😛
playground...i refused to take his shoes off cos all hell will break loose if he is to figure out what he can do with max grip. 😉

jedamum you got foresight lor... after a few session of seeing his friends from school take off shoes and testing out on max grip... my active boy will quickly kick off his shoes whenever he steps into playground and become a monkey on the loose.
