All About Active Community Leaders

All parents....who are GRL....please advise as I am actively involved in RC for the past 2 years and in the position of Secretary right now. However the GRC that I am serving does not have the school that I want to put my daughter in and I have got feedback that it does not matter as long as I have the advisor's endorsement I will be qualified in phase 2B of any schools.
Has anyone out there has successfully gone thru phase 2B which this kind of situation.

HI QMs
Yah, that is what we plan to do. But I wonder if we will now the number left in 2B more assuredly, so dun get into the situation of… well, withdraw from the other school then register at Phase 2 B and then told we ve go into Ballot cuz more PV register last day, or active community leaders register last minute.
I wonder if PA issues the number for the letter of endorsement givenfor the various constituency, so that will help to narrow down the numbers left, though logically, if my hubby serve in the RC, he should know right (but in the case of GRC there may bemany RCs, so… not too sure abt that)
Does anyone know if we can call PA to find out the number for each area?
copsland007, from earlier posting i saw here, it seems that the letter is valid for the schools within the GRC. There is anexample for St Hilda, in the early pages of this thread, where the election changes the boundaries or the mum found out that she serve on a different area, and not eligible for the school. Rest of the more experienced mums may want to correct me
thanks -

Hi momoshop!
Well, if you are able to withstand the pressure of withdrawing and applying at the eleventh hour, you can actually monitor the situation at 4 pm (registration usually ends at 4.30 pm), or even 4.15 pm! I don't think there will be many parents doing so, right?
You are lucky that both Schools A and B are sort after schools. Not many parents are so privileged to have more than one privileged schools to choose from. Hence, you MAY not see a sudden influx of application between 4 and 4.30 pm. It is likely this scenario happens in Phase 2C, but for Phase 2B, not very likely. -

Mostly the schools is allow in the GRC, you may want to check with your Chairman. I had a freind that did RC in 2000, nobody inform him any info on Phase 2B registration. In the end he didn't make use of the benefits.
Ask Chairman everything say don't know, not sure etc. :!: -

hi QMS, well depending on how you look at it, some may not think it is a \"lucky\" situation since a wrong move could jeopardise mean ending up with neither
Other may think, fwah, so greedy ah!
We are still considering la, whether it is worth the effort.. I read various threads and some parents feel that we ought to do the best we can (hence, the PV etc etc).. my own mum Q up overnight to put me in the schoolnear my place, it is what she had done for me.
Feel that ought to try for my boys ba, if have then good, dunve then its in fate's hands liao, sigh.. -

Based on my understanding, the letter will have to be issue by PA and not via CCC (example drafted by SCM and sign by advisor), you need to obtain it via PA website and this benefit will be given to GRL who had served more than 1 year and submitted your request via that link.
In this letter (what I saw from a friend's PA letter), it did indicate the zone (GRC) that you could apply using 2B benefit.
Example: you are able to apply within xxx GRC, so the school you intend to send yr kid must be within that GRC for this benefit
You might want to double check with yr SCM.

Hi jenybc & titank,
Thanks for the input…I guess I have to wait till next year to find out the truth myself…just out of curiousity during balloting at phase 2C do they go by first come first serve or conduct ballot for all parents…
for eg…100 places left @ phase 2C…if we were the first ones would it be confirmed we get the place or they give us a time to gather and then they start the balloting…Sorry if I am lengthy…just wanna understand the process…Thanks so much -

Hi, there's no first come first serve in balloting. If there is, then no need to ballot at all. It's more like lucky draw. All the names of applicants qualified for balloting will be thrown inside a box, shake it up and then the lots will be draw out from the box. Need alot of luck if there are alot of applicants competing for a few slots.Hi jenybc & titank,

In Phase 2, places are given to those staying nearest to the school first (<1 km) before people in the next nearest group get allocated (1-2 km). Any places will be allocated to those staying beyond 2 km.....just out of curiousity during balloting at phase 2C do they go by first come first serve or conduct ballot for all parents....

During balloting, everyone within the group who needs to go through balloting has equal chance. -

Hi! Phase 2C balloting is done for all who registered usually. It actually depends on how many vacancies are available and how many registrants live within 1km, 1-2km and beyond 2km. There is no first-come-first-served registration for Phase 2C.Hi jenybc & titank,

However, Phase 3 will be first-come-first-served. (Note that Phase 3 only comes after Phase 2C Supplementary.)
