      Hi Laughingcat, Jedamum,

Thanks for your advice. Will try it out for a term then. Funny thing is DD is clingy to me only for enrichment class. She is ok in her kindergarten cos she likes her teachers and friends there.

RE : Han Language Centre @ YCK CC- Forming class for 3 YO on weekday

Is anyone interested in forming a class for 3YO on weekday, after 5pm? They currently only have a Sunday class for preschoolers but the person I spoke to said if they can form a class of 3, they can start a class. Anyone interested, pls pm me.

Btw, YCK cc is near Yio Chu Kang MRT station.

          Hi Everyone,

I have 2 girls aged 5 and 3. Currently we are living in Kuala Lumpur. We will be coming back to Singapore end November this year. My concern is that my older girl is not very keen on Mandarin. We send her for Saturday classes in Skylace in KL but she cries a lot before entering the class. We don’t really speak Mandarin at home so now I am worried that she will really fall behind when she starts K2 next year in Soka Kindergarten. Any parents have similar experiences? How did you handle it? Any good Chinese Language Centres to recommend? We will be staying in Tampines when we come back.

went for both trial at Zi Ying and Berries.

Zi Ying’s approach is help child recognize as many chinese characters as possible. N2 not much handwriting. Emphasis now is on Chinese word recognition. One side flash chinese words, the other side flash ‘chinese word + corresponding picture’ - so that child knows meaning of the word.

Berries’ approach for N2 level flash cards bring home only 3 words, parents to revise with child at home, plus worksheet done in class helped by teacher (like draw line to match chinese word to the correct picture).

Berries’ feedback got mixed feedback. Some said very good bec their child can read Chinese readers. But another friend of mine after 1 Term switched over to Hans said Hans is better. She said kids memorize chinese words from Berries reader, her daughter prefer Hans, chinese improved.

after attending both trial, still confused … to choose Zi Ying or Berries ?

can any K1 or K2 parent with Zi Ying share your valuable experience ? how does Zi Ying help prepare your child ?
does Zi Ying give you flashcards to revise with child at home ?

            still confused …
