Is there any programme around which follows the MOE maths syllabus?

      sleepy:
I agreed with Jedamum that both Kumon & abacus aren't quite in sync with MOE's model drawing & heuristic type of questions. In my opinion, these 2 programmes seem more suitable for preschoolers, to build a stronger foundation in Maths. Once reach primary school level, I prefer a Maths programme that follows MOE syllabus. That's just my personal preference. There are many kids who continue even when they are in primary schools

I'm still searching. I heard MPM quite close although not exactly.

Meantime hubby & I coaching her personally. Hubby covers maths olympiad while I rely on assessment books

Glad we r in the same stage of Kumon! My son also talks a looot and active!

Initially he also took 40 min in fact 3 hrs also sometimes. What I felt for my son is - discipline motivation and time consciousness have to be encouraged. It is very diff but worth it. My son never ever stops talking. I loss my temper but still after Kumon I HAVE LEARNT to be patient to make things work with my son. He is also repeating the Level 2A (maths) second time since we had to break for 8 months. And then he had to take up test and go down from 2A to 4A and now he is back to level 2A. But now I feel he is more clear and mature.

Motivate, motivate, patience. It is a challenge! Reward them, appreciate them, all modestly.

My DS is taking 2A test today since he has completed 2A worksheets  ! Expecting whatever to happen ๐Ÿ˜Ž !

I say, 'finish worksheet in 6 min mummy feel proud (this is for me), and daddy feel happy(for daddy), and i will tell ur Kumon friend that u have achieved, will buy u the food u like to eat, u can go to higher level, finish the entire kumon faster, and then all is done! U will score well in primary. U will feel proud and ur future will be bright, what ever, to make them really understand it is for their good, and make them happy, and make them understand. Everything moderately without stressing them. Give all the trust warmth and love they need. They will soon realise. My son will still grumble sometimes when his mood is not good. But is ok, we got to be patient. They will do it.

              All the Best

              :stupid:

                Hi Jona/hnghng,

Any possibility of you to scan and send me a sample of the Kumon worksheets? My DD is in K2 too, and I would like to find out where she is in Kumonโ€™s standard.

                Thanks!

Do they sell such graded worksheets to the public (i.e. to non Kumon students)?

I know that Kumon sells "Kumon Workbooks" in most book stores, but I think they are different.

I have seen Kumon workbooks not sure if it is the same. But u can attend their observation sessions where u can sit in. And kids given test to determine which level they belong to and they can enter that level directly instead of starting from Level 7A to travel up based on individual kids skills.

I was hoping to buy the graded materials for home use without signing up for Kumon due to my limited budget for enrichment courses.

But itโ€™s fine if the materials are not available to non-Kumon students. I can use other alternative material.

                        Thanks for your info!
