GES has a long history and is reputable, while ZhangDe has new building, which means better and newer facilities.

i m so confused and still sad so my mind is blank
I think I will enrol her to Queenstown primary and send her for more enrichment classes... what else can i do? -
Going for one that is nearest to your house is good idea, you save a lot and spare the child from traveling. Remember its 5 days every weeks for the next 6 years.

Yes, it's true. You can save more time to spend it on child's tuition.
Hi, Niecoco, don't be so sad. Acually, for the first 2 years, school is not important for the child's acadamy record. For my opinion, parents should spend more time on child's development, which is much better than outside enrichment course. If you can develop your child better in these 2 years, you will have many chances to shift your girl to a better school in a later stages. -

i think most importantly is to monitor my girls' progress and constantly giving her support. I hope she will be given a chance to change but I cant put too much hope on that.
hopefully she will outperform and choose her school in sec. -
Hi ctct61t
Congrats to you and your kid. RM is very a very popular school in your area. Of course, the other is CHIJ Kellock. About GES, do you know how the school perform in their PSLE as a whole. Is the performance of your colleagueโs boy in GES an exception rather than norm. I stay very near to GES and its our last choice or final back up plan.
Hi niecoco
Sorry to hear that. Wish you all the best in your next choice of school.
Hi alyplwwf
Its though out there with ratios of 3:1 and you have done your best. Would you care to share which schoold would you be moving onto.
Cheers to all

Hi Niecco,
I would recommend New Town Pri instead of Queenstown Pri. Seem like New Town had been established in 1965 & I remembered that I can't even get in when I was at 6 years old. (In the year 1978).
In the end go Tanglin Primary. Now the school no more liao.
New Town would have a new building in 2009 with combination with Ghim Moh Primary.
Wish you all the best. Just my 2 cents worth. -

Actually before registration, I was in a dilemma choosing between RM and GES. My girl likes both schools and my No. 1 choice is RM. Based on the result on the second day of registration, I thought of pulling out from RM and go to GES but on second thought, I decided not to give up till the last minute and always think that I may not be that unlucky one.
Now I regret my decision. Should I had register her at GES, I do not have to worry for another week. Now GES has only 53 places and I am worry how high is the chances of balloting again at 2C supp ? I am also considering New Town and Queenstown as the vacancy is much higher but these 2 schools are much further from my house, I think more than 2km and I do not know much about these schools. In fact the nearest school to my house is Blangah Rise (just 5 mins walk) but that will be my last resort.
Just for info, I have put my girl on waiting list at RM but chances are very very slim as the admin staff told me that more that 40 are ahead of me and some parents are on the waiting list even before yesterday's balloting. Wow, really KIASU !!! -

Hi alyplwwf, you are just following a strategy that you decided on based on your knowledge at that point of time, and I'm sure you have weighed your risks carefully. It goes like this: \"I will try for RM because my chances are x%, the risk is such-and-such and the reward to me of getting that place is such-and-such so it is worth taking that risk. If I don't get RM, then I will go for 2nd choice school which is ABC because my chances are y% and the reward to me is ....\" and so on....Now I regret my decision. Should I had register her at GES, I do not have to worry for another week. Now GES has only 53 places and I am worry how high is the chances of balloting again at 2C supp ? Even the best strategies will involve some amount of uncertainty and risks. Hindsight is always 20-20 and there is really nothing to regret at this moment since your strategy is really not fully played out at this time. If strategies work all the time then we don't call them strategies, since there is nothing to think about. In your case, I think you are well covered since you have Blangah Rise right in your neighbourhood which is not too popular in that area even though parents who visited it think it is a good school.
I have heard of people being put on the waiting list and getting a place subsequently, so don't count that out either. But you must first get a place in a school. -
Thanks ChiefKiasu, really nice sharing with you guys here in this forum, very informative and helpful. I felt much better now.
