              Lock:
              Hi all,

Glad to see some new parents in this thread. My dd is P4 this yr in OLQP and I am very pleased with the school so far. DD has (IMHO) blossomed in all areas under the guidance of the trs. Of cos, not all trs are good (everywhere sure got black sheep) but majority is very encouraging and nurturing.

When DD started her P1 under the previous Principal, the discipline and strong character development in the sch is very obvious but academically, the sch is not very pushy. However, with the new principal I get the sense that she is trying to up the academic std by hvg various after sch progs. Initially, i was worried that with the focus now shifted on academics, the discipline and character development will be neglected. So far so good and I am more pleased as now the sch is focusing both the academics and character development. I am sure in a few yrs time, OLQP PSLE results will improve. πŸ™‚

The only grouse I have of the sch is the canteen food. They don't sell fruits and very little options for veges. I find it very unhealthy, esp when my girl has to stay back 3-4x a week. So, I bring lunch to her at least 1x a week.
I shared what Lock had said. I am grateful to the school and teachers to contribute to the progress of my girl to where she is today. I always think I might not be so lucky if not for OLQP. I do not know the future but I want my girl to be happy and enjoys her school life.

I have a niece in P2 and my younger is going to be P1 next year. I have confidence that they will find a good balance in this school.

              Hi Lock,
Stress was over for me. I only managed to take leave to spend some time to coach my girl during CA2 exam period. Still, I could not complain much with the results obtained with the effort I put in. I had been so busy with work and I felt very guilty nowadays with the time spent on her. The most touching words I got from my girl was \"mummy, can you don't \"open\" your labtop as we need to revise for our CA2\". I believe she is maturing and more sensible now but still need to work on her 'attititude\". Also, she told me she cried during her maths paper as she was not so sure how to do the last 2 problem sums. The next day, she was happier as she told me she asked your dd and a few others and the answer was the same. I felt sorry for her as I did tell her I expected her to get full marks for Maths which I did not mean it.

Nowadays, it believe it is the system that works and I believe most of them did well. For what she has achieved so far, I am proud of her as she is getting more independent now. Most important, I want her to grow well and progress and be happy.
              Cheers! πŸ˜„

                Hi Snowyqueen,

I went with the girls to the Lantern making @ Esplanade and met your dd there. She behaved very well and managed to quietly persevere to the end without complains. πŸ™‚

PS: It's not easy making the clothe lantern and some girls were moaning and groaning throughout the taks. πŸ™‚

Thanks Lock for informing this πŸ˜„ She needs a lot of counselling and she still has problems interacting with her classmates as she told me.
I kind of sad whenever I heard that but I guess I have to accept and keep encouraging her.....
