Hi all,

          I am new here.

Brought my 4.5 yrs old boy for an assessment at Lcentral this afternoon. Was pretty upset that they recommended him to start from foundation. He can describe and name all the pictures that were shown to him and write his name correctly. Howecer, he dunno phonics.

Any of you parents can advise if I-creativer Learners or Lcentral which is better?

Hi, I think it is a standard process for this range of age as wen I signed up my son in Apr'11, he started in Foundation too even though he knows phonics and all the pictures words. But he only attended foundation for 1 term and was promoted to Liftoff in July. My centre explained to me is that to let the kids adjust to the environment and teacher as during Foundation, they will have words and sound interactive games so the children will enjoy. But once they promoted to Kiftoff, focused will be on spelling and passage reading.

You may want to check with the centre of your interest if they have the same system. Mine is at Tampines CPF building.

Hope the above info is useful to you ๐Ÿ™‚

          Cheers

          Hi my3 darlings,

May I know who is the teacher that is teaching your kid?? Is he or she good? My kids are with teacher Laura now, she is good but however due to timing, we are thinking of changing them but teacher laura wont be able teach them.
Hi all,

Iโ€™ve recently jumped on the Lcentral bandwagon cos my niece at 6 years old can read very well. My girl is also 6 although sheโ€™s a year-end child, and she couldnโ€™t read for nuts some months ago. We enrolled her in May. Now she can read decently. But at the same time I have also started her on Peter and Jane recently. Wonder if its the magic of lcentral or the hardwork of mummy?

She was put in launchpad and now just started liftoff. But the thing is sheโ€™s reading mainly based on word recognition rather than phonics and many times she canโ€™t complete her LC homework without our help.

I wonder if sheโ€™s really benefitting from the program since her phonics skills are still so elementary??

I have just signed up for my DD LC at Tampines CPF building too. She is under Teacher Susan as she is afraid of Teacher Richard. Any review of him?

Now she is at 930am Foundation class and its only 2 kids. Soon the other kid will be promoted to the next level end of Sep. So will be my DD alone. Me afraid that they might close the session and place her in Teacher Richard class at 11am instead.

Hi vfong1, my girl was in PPS since she joined in September last yr when she was in K1. Definitely, I can see a great improvement especially in her grammar and writing skills...Recently, she even constructed a compo of >150 words based on 9 helping words....I feel that it really helps her to understand about not only writing a sentence but a better sentence...

The children are exposed to oral reading, comprehension (MCQ and writing), cloze grammar, vocab cloze, word order, spelling and comprehension test. I would say it definitely helps the child to prepare for P1...However, Im not too sure about their success programme for the primary school students..

Woohoo! DD went for trial on Sun and no tears!

I have signed her up for the Foundation class but her teacher commented that she's quiet. I hope she ends up soon. Otherwise, not sure how is she going to pass whatever assessment to move on to the next level.

                    Hihi, mambobb. ๐Ÿ™‚
