:thankyou: swimironkids and vk2010 for your suggestion. Heard that these are the better 2 brands in town. I'm looking at one that can tell the distance covered and of course the time taken. GPS one looks interesting but :moneyflies: :moneyflies: considering that I'm a newbie runner and don't want to spend soo much.
Will def look into the 2 brands recommended. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

Check out Garmin and Nike too, besides the 2 brands the other bros suggested liao.
Cheers. -
If you donโt mind the watch a bit big, mail order Garmin FR305 from Amazon. Best value for money with rave reviews.

:thankyou: everyone here for your suggestions. You have all been so helpful.
Finally got my sports watch.
I bought a Polar from Running Lab as there was a 20% discount - able to measure heart rate, distance (using foot pod) and calories burned.

Anyone has feedback on Garmin forerunner 310xt? Heard it was good for recording distances.

Bought one for my hubby and he loves it. But do not buy Garmin watches from Singapore, they will charge you exorbitant rates. I bought mine from this website: handtec.co.uk
I looked through many reviews before settling on Garmin. You can go to this website
http://www.dcrainmaker.com When this guy reviews the watches, he swims and runs with them and he will tell you the good and bad points of the watches. He is a triathelete -
Thanks coolit, read the reviews on the website, now I have a lot more choices to think about.
Does your husband like the garmin? Is it working well for him? -
Hubby loved it and says it has helped him to see how much distance he has covered
and it has improved his running. -
I own both a garmin and a polar.
Distance measurement - Garmin better than Polar because its has built in GPS. Polar only higher end has GPS but is external. Otherwise distance measurement will based on footpod.
Garmin canโt work indoor (unless you buy their footpod) so, if you running on treadmill most of the time, polar will be better choice.
HRM - Garmin better because Polar HRM get messed up when you are running next to another runner who also uses Polar.
Battery life - Polar better because its uses battery. Garmin you need to charge it and each charge is only good for 8 hrs. It gets shorter as the watch age. Not suitable for ultra marathon or marathon (if battery age).
