          There is this new Childcare at Alexandra Road called Odyssey. Heard somewhere that it is actually Learning Horizon subsidiary. Since it is new, I guess no one can give any info on how is the place. But can Chief Kiasu or anyone give any comment on this place? My two year old son is attending Moral Childcare for several months and although it is quite good, I do not think it is very good as a kindergarden so I am presently considering of changing. I already have two options at the moment; 1st is Carpe Diem and the other is Lorna Whiston both co-located at Alexandra. Wondering if should include Odyssey as another option. Any help guys...

              Tks Mincy,

              Any idea if it is good? It cost $1,300 for Full Day before subsidy so it better be. But then again Mindchamps cost just as much but they are more of a marketing agency rather than an educational place.

              I might go and check out the place soon. So before that anyone with any info please update me. Tks a zillion…

                eah, I was quite tempted but the price tag is really high. one of the staff at the arthur road one tell me that they went to Italy to observe some famous education method while they were planning for the new center...did some googling and found this :

                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggio_Emilia_approach

                \"The city of Reggio Emilia in Italy is recognized worldwide for its innovative approach to education. Its signature educational philosophy has become known as the Reggio Emilia Approach which many American preschool programs have adopted. The Reggio Emilia philosophy is based upon the following set of principles:

                Children must have some control over the direction of their learning;
                children must be able to learn through experiences of touching, moving, listening, seeing, and hearing;
                children have a relationship with other children and with material items in the world that children must be allowed to explore;
                and children must have endless ways and opportunities to express themselves. \"

                  Tks Mincy for the link. It is definitely very helpful.

                  However, I do wonder if this method suitable in our society and in our school.

                  Anyone else with any other comment on Odyssey?

                    Ah... the true and tried method for marketing success in Singapore... take on a foreign name... tie up with a foreign professor... embrace a foreign teaching method.

                    That's why I'm impressed with Pat Schoolhouse. Patricia Koh never had to rely on all this extra packaging to get her business as far as she did.

                      Hmmm… I believe that Chief Kiasu has his reservations of Odyssey.

                      To tell the truth, I have my doubts too. Especially so when it is yet to be proven. That is why I am keeping my options open.

                      I have registered my son in St James for next year, but based on the waiting list I doubt my son would get a slot, so I have to faster confirm my son a seat in another nursery soon.

                        Hi,

                        Any new info to share? Am still on the lookout for schools near Bt Merah area. So far I’ve visited Moral Childcare & Little Skoolhouse at SGH. Moral childcare price is very reasonable. But location abit inconvenient for me plus they seem to have only 1 hour lesson for half day.

                        Little Skoolhouse at SGH seems abit old, but alot of space, and they have big areas for outdoor play, sandplay, waterplay. The curriculum also seems quite ok, and price is within my budget.

                        Am planning to check out Eager Beaver (Safra Mt Faber), Cherie Hearts (Bt Purmei or Depot Rd), and Appleland Montessori at Depot Road. And also Dardis at Bt Merah.
