Hi,
Anybody know about "accelerated class of science" in sec 3? How can be selected in this class? What is ratio between normal class and accelerated class?

It just means that those who do best in the Sec 2 exams for Sciences and Mathematics are most likely to end up studying A-level stuff in Sec 3 and 4. It will be challenging. It may even be interesting. But it is no guarantee that the student comes out positively changed as a person.
I wouldn't trust any programme with a take-up rate of much more than 5%, maybe 10% Which means that if more than one class is 'accelerated' for each science subject, I would be cautious.
Notice how carefully I am talking about the subject at hand.

Just to clarify - so sports DSA applicants who want to study IB will apply both under sports and academic? Then they go for sports trial/interview plus HAST. After that, those successful sports applicants with COs will only know if they qualify for IB after PSLE results ie they still have to meet the 254-256 COP criteria? Thanks.
not necessarily so, coz those that get in under DSA sports, if they dont meet the cut off of 250something, they go to the express stream ... unless they already got into IB thru the HAST test, just like all the others that got into the IB under DSA. -

Those who want to study IB (the International Baccalaureate Diploma at Years 5-6) still have to survive the Integrated Programme (IP) from Years 1-4 and do well enough to enter Year 5. It’s a long road ahead, although very rewarding for those who can manage their time well. -

according to booklist 2012 there are "Physics for Scientists and Engineers 8th Ed (Accelerated Class for Science) Serway $58.85" and "Biology 9th International Ed (Accelerated Class for Science) Campbell, Reece $83.45", I believe these books use for undergraduate student. Do you think these books suitable for sec 3? -

The texts are suitable for a very keen A-level student. Yes, they are suitable as introductory texts for US undergrad programmes as well.
In the past, such students would have looked at books like Halliday & Resnick's 'Physics' and P W Atkins's 'Physical Chemistry'. The present texts come heavily augmented with online resources. Essentially, a good student will be able to self-teach from such resources.
My personal belief is that at Sec 3, a lot of work must be done to bridge the material for students and make it meaningful. The practical work should reflect this, and a complete curriculum package must be designed to integrate the modules.
The books may be suitable for some gifted S3 students. -
