Hi Muffins
Thanks for sharing.
Today, 2 down, 2 more to go.

My son wrote about a fire alarm being the strange noise. Is that accepted? Cos his tuition teacher told him that it is fine as we don’t hear fire alarms everyday and it could be strange to some. I’m still not sure… Anyway he said paper 2 is easy!

to valeri : ya. My son is also worried that he wrote out of point. Hahaha my son wrote a model compo for his class about a fire outbreak. So he copied the exact same compo. Turns out 1 of his other friend wrote the same compo too! Pray that they both have diff markers!

I almost wrote that it was the crackle of fire. In the end, I wrote that it was the whimper of a dog being abused.lalala:

Hi,
Can someone help to explain this question? TIA
The couple who saw a robber shot dead in front of them was traumatized.
Why the answer is not shoot as after saw ?
...a robber SHOT dead (passive voice) -
sashimi:
It's passive voice : the robber was shot dead...
Let me try. It's clearer when you think of it this way:fxchow:

The couple - who saw {a robber (who was) shot dead} in front of them - was traumatized.
If \"shoot\" is used, it doesn't make sense as the sentence tries to imply that the robber is shooting someone/something called \"dead\".
If I changed \"dead\" to a proper noun, eg. \"the banker\", then shoot works:
The couple who saw a robber shoot the banker in front of them was traumatized.
However, in this case, it is that the robber was killed, i.e. shot dead.
btw, \"the banker\" is not a proper noun; it is a common noun.

Well, I think it's because the robber was shot before the couple saw it. So put it this way: The couple saw a robber who was shot dead in front of them. They were traumatized.Hi,

Hi lalala, cutebabys (just asking, shouldn't cutebabys be spelt as cutebabies? :? ), and valerie,
Many people wrote about fires, bombs, and incidentally, a blind man whose walking stick was making the strange sound, I have heard. And many people said paper 2 was easy, especially the grammar cloze, cloze compre, and compre OE.
