it is easy to target a stationary site versus a running commentary like that by CNN which many singaporeans feel was lopsided reporting and stretching the truth quite a bit

why these NGO never targets the CNN ?

        madinked:
Generally I find the blog useful and informative.

About naming names, please, there are so many other blogs there talking about each other. Black listing each other, even at politicians during the election. To say that they can't answer back, true only to some
Extent since the Internet is widely used by the helpers now too. They may not know of the existence of this blog before now, but who knows, as I type this, someone may e gossiping about me on their blog. If I have done nothing wrong, why should I be afraid?

And to quote examples in the papers today, employers would know its useless to either complain to the ministry or even talking to the helpers themselves. Yah right they would take kindly to our criticisms. Right.

Perhaps it may be a little extreme, but I feel the blog is to protect us, te employers in the blogger's own way. If I not wrong, she works in the legal field so she knows her limits. I have read reviews of some of the helper's as there are some really unbelievable helpers out there.

If we say this blog is wrong, then we can say that sites six as hungry go where are bad for food businesses too.
if the Ministry of Manpower has been more responsive to the woes faced by maid employers, such blog would have no chance to exist at all

the whole scheme of things and the regulations and law relating to maid employment in singapore is 100% tilted AGAINST the voiceless employers

Actually, the setting of the blog was of good intention to allow employers to voice and share their grievances in maid issues since there're no one place that REALLY goes about in solving employer-maid issues. However, at times it tends to work like a headless herd.

Let's take a look at the types of employers who visit the blog

            a) The 'terrorist' type who adopts the guerilla tactics by posting once and never reply. They just want to vent their frustrations and never really want an answer
            b) The 'always I right and maid always wrong' type. This type only wants to listen to the 'good words', wants comfort in herd, wants others to agree to their way of doing things and to condemn the maid with them. Many such employers have frequent changes in their maids
            c) The type who don't dare to use a nick for posting. May be they're afraid that posting of too many maid issues using a nick would allow others to question their competency and capability in managing their maid. For this type it's better to hide their identity behind a veil of anonymity by using a common 'Anonymous' nick.
            d) The type who would use a nick for posting

Now, it's bad if employers openly support another employer if the latter condems the maid's wrongdoings just simply basing on his/her words without factual proof. Or either kept quiet on this employer posting of her maid's condemnation. And, best of all, the most popular and highly recommended solution to the maid problems is to 'fire the maid'.

Employers there tend to comfort one another, share woes and plight, and support one another by agreeing through a common herd mentality. Any chance of you lecturing the 'wrong' employer would be met by strong words and deletion of your post(s) by the blogger herself once she has set her mind 'right' on the issue.

One questions are all the employers who posted there are really good employers suffering at the hands of their evil maids? If not will the blog be useful if it works on the headless herd mentality? And, IMO, employers are real damn rich that they just fire the maid on trivial issues without even bother to solve them. So, why are they complaining of the rise in the maid's salary, the levy, the bond etc?

            :xedfingers:

hmmmmmmmmm...... the people fighting for the maids seem to be going all the way to block anything negative about maids and i think this group is getting a bit too powerful and vocal in my opinion.

i like the blog too - lots of useful and practical info.

things like posting the maid's particulars could be removed but shutting it down is a very unreasonable demand.

so we have mom and the many groups looking after the maids, who is looking out for the employers?????

we dont have a voice in the papers, organisations etc to fight for employers.

anyway, some complaints by the maids in mom facebook are really :siao:

Just curious, Chu Liu Xiang, do you engage a maid?

Exactly. My maid is posting comments about us on her FB, revealing our travel plans, posting pictures of herself taken inside our house. Who's there to protect us? Can I ask her to remove her FB account?

Since a lot of maids have access to internet nowadays, they can by all means go to this blog and post their opinions too. They can also use \"anonymous\" or their real names. They are not as helpless as you think.

very sian with all these maid's issues. though i dont have a maid now, all these issues really turn me off.

if you ask maid to remove it from her fb, she will definitely block you from viewing hers and you would never know what else she would be posting.
