If not wrong, CMIIW, this school was located at Thomson Road back then and called Thomson Primary School. Maybe at that time, cause of relocation to present site, less students enrolled to this school. :?Based on their staff list for 2011 :
Pri 1 = 9 classes
Pri 2 = 9 classes
Pri 3 = 6 classes
Pri 4 = 4 classes
Pri 5 = 2 classes
Pri 6 = 1 class
There was an opportunity to make that one class to shine.....just one class to manage .... :siam: -
1234… i know what you are suggesting, but lets look at the facts as the insinuation is overly simplistic… for logistical reasons it is more convenient to group some students together into a few classes, spreading these students further might cause further logistical headache with little incremental benefits. Also, look at the facts now, how many top scorer are chinese vis a vis the other race.
At the end of the day we belief what we want to, i am more inclined to resist labelling some segment of society. It’s a marathon and not a 100 m dash after all, i hope that we encourage them throughout this road and not add shackles . cheers -
Luddite- this is what I think too. But the hear say thingy is affecting me, not my child. Lol. Thanks.
Cheers!!! -
1234, so does that mean 1-9 would be the best? or no diff between 1-7/8/9?
like luddite, i only hope he will enjoy learning and his time in this sch. And of cos my other wish is not to regret choosing this sch for him. -
Hi everyone!
It seems like everyone is really concerned about the school's performance!!! :)(otherwise, we wouldn't be in this forum, right??)
Heard about the school's psle result... hopefully the school will work harder!
At the end of the day, WE(parents) are responsible for our children's learning as well.:)
To the parents of lower primary children, do make sure that good study habits are in place asap. It sounds easy BUt it takes time and effort. Trust me, it will pay off!
Good habits such as
1) Be in bed latest by 9.30pm.
2) All homework to be done by certain time. (not before bedtime! )
3)revise what have been taught for the day, especially for MATHS and CHINESE LANGUAGE.
4) FOR CHINESE LANGUAGE: Do ask your child to read the chapters in the text book aloud to you daily for 10 minutes.
5) Limit the time in front of TV/ Ipad/ Ipod/ computers. (**these will take up lots of brain power of your child! how do u expect them to work well/read well etc after playing?)
Cheers! -

I doubt that this would be the case. It's very hard to group a class of pure high-ability kids based on 20 questions. Certainly, it's hard to interpret why a pre-school child would answer certain question in a certain way.1234, so does that mean 1-9 would be the best? or no diff between 1-7/8/9?
like luddite, i only hope he will enjoy learning and his time in this sch. And of cos my other wish is not to regret choosing this sch for him.
I suspect that the end classes are grouped for ease of not having to move the classes too much for 2nd lang. Most schools would have a few classes where it's all Chinese students to help in freeing up teachers for time-tabling.
For the sake of your kids, don't colour their expectations of their class as being \"High Ability\" or \"Mixed Ability\". They will sense your expectation and it'll be tragic if they believe it so when it's merely a logistical move on the school's part. -
I first thought of packing breakfast for dd so that she will only have one meal per day at school. She has 6 years there so it’s a matter of time that she will get bored with school food.
But the school discourage this. I find it strange. Reason being it’s difficult to trace in the case of food poisoning. I thought food poisoning is quite rare.
Anyone share the same thoughts? Anyone is still packing food for their children? Appreciate some view on this. -
Thought of packing food for son too, do not think much about canteen food really… Perhaps a few days a week he can take canteen food but not everyday?
