      Hey Ezmummy,

Yes when Clayman told me ACSP has a more holistic and balanced outlook towards GEP, I felt so relieved. Like u I don't believe in drowning kids in additional tuition and enrichment UNLESS absolutely neccessary. DS has only been to a Compo writing class at the TPY West CC near our place. I only supervise his mandarin and give him spelling for it. Otherwise he is pretty much on his own for his studies.

I am very happy to hear, Clayman, that the MT teachers are excellent. DS enjoyed the ones at his previous school. And yes, if kenah remedial I prob won't faint or panic. I will prob be relieved that he gets great help.

I am glad they will assess the kids from the start and give them appropriate and timely help in areas of weakness. Indeed, the PSLE scores speak for themselves. πŸ™‚

EZmummy, how will you bring DS to school? Be wary of the infamous traffic jams k?

Hi, we're living in Jurong West and are wondering if any of you know of school bus services that operates in this area? We need the bus to send our son to and from ACPS.

        Would appreciate any advice.

        Thanks.

Hi tsy8978, got this from the school's website:

        School Bus Transport
        Ms Carrie Lee, Bus Co-Ordinator
        Tel: 6560-8032 / Email Address: carrie@transland.com.sg

And I did call Ms Carrie.

Just that the pick up time is too early for us, so we decided not to take it up. She is pretty prompt. I emailed her my pick up address, followed by a call.

        HTHs

Yes. Carrie is very prompt. Still waiting for the bus driver to call so I know the timing. Crossing my fingers that it won't be too ridiculously early or too much of a roundabout ride. ^.^\"

Carrie replies her emails around MN btw hehe... From what I have observed.

          Hi all,

Just found my way over to this forum. My son will be joining the ACSP family in 2012 too. Thank you for all the important details shared.

Hubby will be taking the public bus with DS to school as it’s along the way to his office but I expected they will reach school really early in order to avoid the jam.

Can I check when do we actually go into school and is it necessary to get the ID pass ?

We will probably take the first 2 weeks to explore taking public transport. If really doesn't work, it's for me to get a car and drive him. 6.05am is simply ridiculous to hop on the school bus.

I think mine will be there by 7am or earlier. Will take the first 2 weeks to try out the bus timings. But he is used to being dropped off early at school so should not be a problem.

                Hi bbhome,

No need to get the ID pass. If you need to go to the bookshop or the general office for any matters, just inform the guard at the security counter by the lifts and they will give you a sticker. But the Teaching Block is out-of-bounds. In any case, for the first day of school, you will be able to accompany your DS to the auditorium.

If your DH is bringing your DS to school, the traffic is still fine before 7.00am.

Btw, you may not know, but the prices of the food in the canteen is a bit more expensive than other schools.

OK. SO no need for pass. πŸ˜„ Yes I noticed the prices when I was at the bookshop buying book. Any idea why the food prices are higher ?

Not only the food. The drink vending machines charge $1 or more for a drink. Even S’pore Poly machine charges only 70~80c!!!

Hmm. What are the food prices like? Would like to know so I can budget recess and lunch money. ^.^\" TIA to anyone who answers this query.

Prob will try to pack recess for DS, I guess. Do most of the kids eat canteen food for recess or da bao food? πŸ˜‰

According to the letter they sent out, there is a morning healthy snack time. What are u all packing? πŸ™‚ I am a bit at a loss as to what to pack as my boy isnt terribly fond of fruits. Lol.
