          Hi Dharma,

Just wondering about the Sec 1 GEP classes. Are the GEP girls who take MEP/SAP/MT also put in separate GEP classes or are they ranked/placed in classes according to their PSLE scores, which is what I've heard. Thank you! 😄
          Hi red rose,

RGS has done away with special classes just for GEPers some 1 to 2 years ago. For dd’s year, the GEP pupils, mainstream high scorers in PSLE and those who got in thru DSA are allocated to the last 5 classes. The rest of the girls are allocated to the 1st eight classes. There are 2 classes that have girls doing MEP/SAP (102 and 112) but with other girls. Those doing Tamil and Malay are grouped together in 2 or 3 classes with the other girls. The allocation is done in such a way to ease timetabling. I don’t think that girls are ranked in classes according to their PSLE scores.

I think if you get 265 and above, there is a scholar ship to pay $200+ a month. So for school fee of $350, you can save $200. Another way is to take up Malay as the 3rd language. $1000 incentive will be given for this. With these two, your school fee will be reduced to minimum. 😄

That is NOT TRUE. Taking Malay Language does not give you an incentive of $1000. How can this be???

However, taking Malay Language gives the student a chance to apply for the Regional Scholarship Programme - (rigorous selection and criterion) which entitles the child to a scholarship of $2400 per year and a $1000 allowance per year which is mainly used to pay for excursions, overseas immersion trip and expenses pertaining to program.

Student does not need a minimum PSLE cut -off as in the ESIS but of course, needs to qualify for the 3rd language and reasonable good PSLE results and CCA.

daisyt, my understanding is that only those pupil select Malay as 3rd language are eligible for regional scholar.
