DS just told me that his Music teacher wants them to learn 4 songs by heart and will be tested on 9th week... and told them that if they don't pass, they may be sent to Q Class. :razz:


This week is the 3rd week.. so I gather 9th week = 27th Feb week.

3 of the songs are the Chinese School Song, 华中行 and 满江红.. :nailbite:

DS doesn't know what's the 4th song... anyone knows, please?

P.S. DS says today's pledge was in Chinese.. not all can remember the Chinese pledge.. so they pretend to know & murmur along.. LOL..

Hi there parents!

First, thank you for all the updates. Let me update some stuff from DS ( 1O1 ).
1. DS came back and told me QMCT is \"Questioning Mind, Critical Thinking\". Anyone got that too?
2. Both of us kind of compiled a list of accounts to check everyday at least 2x a day :
- His personal email account
- EMB
- His HMT and Form Teacher's wikispace for class info and even hw
- new iVLE
- ISP
- IH wikispace
- LSS wikispace ( so far just these few subject wikispaces )
- Test dates ( Resource Booking )
Did I miss out any thing?
3. He handed up his chinese essay. His teacher must have reviewed a few and commented that the class essays very lousy. O-O. He made the pupils read the Monkey God ... some can read some not so good. TODAY, teacher asked the class to read chapters 1 to 3 ALL OVER AGAIN, for story telling the next day. :rant: DS cannot finish. Eye lids closed by 10.30pm.
4. LSS teacher mentioned they need to bring $2 to buy test tube case on Friday. Anyone got this too? And teacher also told them to bring t t to school after CNY for lab.

Have a few questions :
1. Will school be dismissed at 10am on Fri? Cos' if you check the trials list, there are some trials this Friday from 4 to 6 I think ... moreover this is the eve of the eve of the eve of CNY :?
2. Oh yes! I am sure by now most of the DSes have prepared the subject files based on requirement by teachers? Question is, do we have to bring the relevant subject files to school, based on timetable? This is quite a bulk. Not heavy yet but bulky ! DS says his classmates bring files to school everyday! Now he brings files BUT in separate bag!!! So 2 bags. :slapshead:

Has anyone tried installing the Ambon CD?? Erh…I meant the Science cd.
Remem to key in serial number and after installation, must activate. Instructions within box.
Not bad the Science info.
DS given Science homework and must do online …something abt Lab do’s and donts. He tried to read info in Ambon.
HAVE A GREAT DAY!!! DS going to try English Debate today. At Clock Tower second floor, can’t remem room number. 4.30 start I think. Anyone going for trials?

Morning, DS install the Ambon CD during December but instead of DS going thru those topics, DD was the one curious and going thru and playing with it as there were some mini questions to answer after each topic.

DS told me last week that teacher told them to get some Science textbooks to read up themselves. They can ask from their friends from other secondary sch to see which books they are currently using.

Yeap, DS going to try English debate too. :imcool:

Good morning to all ! DS logged onto EMB for the first time last night. 慢三秒I know And thank goodness for having checked the messages as he needed to bring a hard boil egg for IH this morning. But I seriously wonder, other than EMB and IVLE, do the students need to access the rest daily ? Its time consuming. Can parents of seniors provide guidance on which are useful and which aren't ?


DS had QMCT yesterday too. No comments other than teachers are very nice Also had to buy the test tube casing. For monkey god, had to analyse the theme song for a tv series. Where music class is concern, I think DS completely switched off as he had no concerns over the songs he needs to prepare. So thank you to parents here for the info.

Before dozing off, DS read a couple of pages of chinese paper he brought back. I really like this as I have been a total failure in getting him to pick up one before. I wonder if the school will continue to provide the papers going forward.

Hmm… for DS1 - 1O2


1. Have not started on any literature book for ELL yet. Only read some passage printed by the teacher. Teacher’s name is Joyce. But can’t find out the surname from DS1.

2. He did one CL hw last week. Looks like answering to a series of question, because, he is "1", "2", "3" written in the beginning of each line. Something about himself, his hobby, how he think he will fare in the subject, and his best friend in class. And… sigh… his Chinese is atrocious. Wanted to faint upon reading it. But decided that better let him show his "true" colours to the teacher.

3. No designated coloured file for different subject

4. CL teacher didn’t say must learn idioms. I asked if he need to buy idiom book, he said "don’t know".

5. Must learn the meaning of the school song. This one I very happy. Because Grandpa was from The Chinese High School decades ago. So, I sub out to Grandpa to explain the meaning to him. Grandpa looked up the dictionary for each word of the meaning given by school, in order to make it very elementary for him to understand. Phew !! Luckily got someone to share my load. DH’s from Raffles family of school…so the chinese standard is very very questionable. And I was from Hwa chong JC…and school song is different… lucky me !

6. Asked him if need to read up on Geography - No.

7. Asked him if need to read Monkey God - No.

8. Only spent a lot of time making his lantern last Sunday, complete with bulb, switch and battery. And that’s after I remind him not to wait till Tuesday night to do it for submission on Wed. Hmm… need to help him work on his time management skills.

9. He is not even aware that there is a website to check what tests he has.

Conclusion…I think I know more from him from this forum than he himself.
I realised that I am starting to take notes from this forum, to ask him at night. Ha ha .
