      Hi Parents,

I'm new in this fantastic and informative forum....not sure whether this is the correct thread to post. My boy is going to register for P1 next year. Have been staying with my in-laws and rented out my house since about 2 yrs ago...but did not change address in NRIC  Intend to register my son for MSHS under P2C as my PILs place is within 1-2 km. Is there any difference if I opt for Statutory Declaration or is it better to change my address? Appreciate if anyone can give some advice... thanx

Dear jastay, use of guardians' address only have impact on those within 1km, since the minimum distance priority for guardians is 1-2km even if the guardians stay within 1km. So in your case, there is no difference whether you use the address on your NRIC or that of the guardian.

However, the law requires that the address on your NRIC reflect the actual address you are staying at, and not that of your property. So you should change your address, anyway.

        Hope this helps.

            Jedamum,

Can do anything but don't get caught. I would view it as OK where property under your name, NRIC reflect the address is 合ē†.
            :celebrate:

Your NRIC must reflect the place where you stay, ie. where you receive your bills from the gahmen, eg. utilities bills. Telco bills are also used as a proxy these days too, to confirm your real address.

                ChiefKiasu,

                Thanks for your enlightenment... šŸ˜„
Just to find out in the case when the address of both parents NRIC is different, is it true that they will only take the father's address into consideration for P1 registration?

This is not normal and you will need to explain why your NRICs reflect different addresses to the school. If your reason is valid and accepted, then the NRIC of the parent where the child will be staying with will be used for the registration.

                    Hi,

I have my own house, however I do stay with my parents too, example on every Thursday and Friday. And wife address is update with our new house, but my IC is not updated. Near my parents have a swchool which is less then 1Km, do I still need to ask my parents to go SD. So how ?

                      Hi!

Like what Chief KS mentioned previously, it is not normal for both parents to have different addresses in their NRIC. Hence, you will have to explain the difference when it comes to registration.

If you use your parents' address, and go by the caregiver route, you are considered in the 1-2 km category, even though your parents' house is within 1 km from the school. For more information on Statutory Declaration, please visit http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/faqs/#statutory-declaration.

Oh! By the way, you haven't reported at the Newbie section yet, right? Can you please report there? It's the SOP here. šŸ˜‰

If we declare using grandparents address to do the registration at the moment as non-working foster parents but later part the grandparent / foster parent found a job and goes to work, will there be any issue?
