My boy was also "selected" for a performing arts CCA 2 yrs ago. 1st thing he needed to do was to buy e instrument. e coach asked us e budget and selected one for son. Then we turned up @ e studio to collect e instrument and make payment. Lesson with e coach is $100 per every 4 lessons, 30 min/lesson. Btw, that’s after sch’s 50% subsidy. This practice has been long enough in HCI and we knew abt it before son decided to join e CCA.

petitemum:
i find HCI HCL std not as high as many pp might think. e marking is also lax. I think e teachers are not v dedicated either. But i am only refering to lower sec based on son's experience.
May I know which consortium is your son in? My son's experience at low sec is just right for difficulty level, pace and teachers' expectation. The teacher was dedicated too, she will track closely for those who do not submit homework or correction too and take action. She also get them to subscribe magazine, read and submit weekly journal as part of their ACE, and she marks all homework in details and gives comment. -
Emelyn:
Hi Emelyn,
DS said that there was an announcement in the EMB about the squash trial happening on 25 Jan. So, he replied the message, and was asked to go for the trial.Emelyn:
DS said the trial dates calendar not correct one. He mentioned that he sent an email to someone (dunno teacher or senior), and was asked whether he plays any racquet game. After that, he was asked to go for the trial.
When I see him tonight, I will ask him for more details. And then tell you.
Thanks for the update. Have not been logging in for some time. Yes my ds managed to attend the squash trial last week. -
Have some questions on oral communication (OC) and indep studies (IS)
1) How is OC to be tested. It comprises 40% oral participation (10% HC and 30% from any best 3 subjects) with remaining 60% from current affairs (30% each fm EL and CL). How are the 40% and 60% to be tested? Based on daily classroom participation or a formal oral test?
2) For Ace under IS, so far there seems to be only something given out to the pupils for HCI. Anybody’s ds has done something for ELL?
3) for computation of msg, there is total of 6 subjects of which at least 5 must come from exam subjects and the last can come fm non exam subjects?
Hope someone can enlighten me. thanks and good nite -
Talking about computation of msg, is inclusion of third language optional ?

Hi, may I know if the Electronics, Communications & Computer Club (EC3) is interesting and what do they do? Is this CCA one of the popular CCAs in HCI? What are the chances of getting in? TQ

The compulsory boarding school program at sec 3 is wonderful. Both parents and Ds are delighted about it. My ds, now sec 2, can't wait for his turn but he would like to know if it is possible to stay for more than one term and under what criteria. Anyone can help me find out during the briefing? TIA. -
