How to teach Sci from P3 to P6,general discussion
-
Hi Yewniffler171!
Thanks for the explanation! -
Agree with Yewniffler171.
I will encourage the child to be more detailed in his/her answer.
\"It is a transparent/tranlucent material which allows most/more light to pass through compared to the other materials.\"
In 'choosing', we are making a comparison before we make a choice. Therefore it is good to include in your answer that you've made a comparison and this is the 'best' material out of those given.

Mrs Wong

Recently I saw a post that consist a qn that her DD failed in PSLE.T comment was lack of key words.I searched the post but couldn't find it.
Now my son in P3.I think, the correct time to guide him in proper way to do Sci in future.
Dear parents, pls advise me how do you prepare/teach your kids?
I have some assessement books, some qns I found it out of syllubus (may be i am wrong).atutor advised me to do past paper enough. Is past paper only enough or need to do assessment books? How we need to collect information from web like example of gases?
qn: checking the material that which material can pass through the light more
1)Why you choose this material?
ans a: Its more transparent
ans b: It allows more light pass through
Which is correct?
Most of the answers in pastpaper, they follow the qn.I told to my son follow the qn.He said other answer also acceptable.
Pls advise me. Thanks in advance. -
Hi Selfan4ever
23!
May I know why do u prefer this book over many books? This is the first time I heard about this book. -
Hi smartmummy,
When I was young, I always did lots of assessment books, and saved the past year papers for before the CA and SA exams. For me at least, I found assessment books crucial in exam preparation because they can drill concepts in effectively.
Another really useful habit I found is to read through very quickly the mistakes in all the subject files at least 2-3 times to know what kind of questions we tend to get wrong, and what the correct ways of thinking are. This will allow the kid to internalise common mistakes and remember not to make them again in the future.
Cheers

Hi linkit!
Thanks for ur reply.
For Sci, do u study all qns in the assessment books? Sci is a wider subject and one exam got two or three themes.it's very difficult to memorize the concepts and answering techniques. I don't want to put unnecessary load on my son's shoulder.
I agree for other subjects , assessment books will help.
Good point have to find out which mistakes they tend to do. :thankyou: -
Hi
Can someone recomend some assessment book with questions more based on experiment conducted. Like "What you observed?", "What is your conclusion ?" based on the experiement they specify.
Thanks -
My daughter is in p3. The questions are really difficult to answer. I can sometimes find the answers in some of the science books we bought from Popular, but never from the books her school uses!
If I can’t find the answer in our books, I have to Google. How will my child be able to answer these questions in school, where she has no additional resources to refer to? -
now my son going to P5 next year, I am not sure we can handle the P5 syllabus by ourselves or need tutition.

googling may not be a solution... cos answers may be too deep for them to understand... also, keywords may not be used so best thing is to hv a good tutor or teacher where u can chk for correct answers..My daughter is in p3.
