Dear AllKiasu101:
My son's school does not rank the classes the tradtional way. They place the top classes in the middle...and label them discreetly as \"high ability\" classes.
Yes, they are call high ability class... but strange arrangement for your DS school to place high ability class in the middle
My understanding for the arrangement is different for every school.
Some place the best from 1st class and rest follow, example Peh Hwa Primary best class is started with Charity.
Some place at the last such as K and L and so on to class A, example Nan Hua Primary.
Some start from the best from the center and spread out each direction, example Punggol Primay School
However this does not matter so long the school try their best to help all children to excel in their undertaking.
Cheers. -

Hi
Just to share
Eldest boy completed GEP, now at HCI.
2nd Boy passed 1st test, but stop at 2nd. But he managed to get into high ability class and mixed partially with the GEPers, MT and SS, and rest of the projects.
3rd boy waiting for tomorrow or next week result.
But from my wife contact, there are two family that she know, all the kids are in GEP.
Cheers. -
Hi,
my dd’s school gave the results today. She got in. Not so sure if those who don’t get into GEP get paper slips but in my ds year, they do give and they mentioned that he was in the top 10% of cohort. -
Sorry, my ‘today’ refers to Thu. I posted past midnight so it’s Fri already.
There is a brochure from Tao Nan Pri about their BICEP program. It’s something about Bi-cultural Chinese something something. Haven’t read the package in detail because I’m very tired. Does any parents from Tao Nan know anything about this program? Is it tough, interesting? That school seem to want to recruit the GEP kids for the program. They mention assessment test is on 26DEC.
We’re undecided whether to let dd join program. It seems so tough. She’s happy with the ways things are now. As for enrichment, she has her challenges in arts and music which she enjoys very very much. Thank goodness we have until 16 NOV to decide… -

if she is fast in learning, I think it shd be ok.. my son this yr in p4 gep.. he has wushu on every sat night and piano home lesson weekly. In academic wise, he has chinese lang tuition..Nevertheless, more of their time got to be spare for homework or sometime, projects. For bicep program, other then studying hcl, they will spend more time in learning chinese culture thing....it will be gd for kids who like chinese. My ds not in taonan, maybe other mum can let u know more abt it. But if u don't stay near taonan, please call up their bus coordinator whether do they service your area. We almost want to choose it last yr but the school bus doesn't come to my place.. but other gep schools which is even further then Taonan do.......... :(But they are changing principal so maybe system will change...Sorry, my 'today' refers to Thu.
