I know towards the end of the class, they play bingo but with pictures. The teacher will ask whose card have got pictures that begin with <phonics of a letter> and then the kids will excitedly look at their own card to check. So it's learning thru play in this instance.i spoke to my gal's classmate who attend the centre. Most of the time the teacher is not really teaching. They would end up playing with the teacher.
I think it's ok to play with the kids as long as they complete their work.
But yes, I kinda get the impression that they play quite a lot in class. Maybe coz my gal enjoys the class a lot?? Hehe... I make it sounds as if learning shouldn't be fun. -

Hi all,
If you decided to enrol your kid in lcentral, pls pm me so that both of us can enjoy $30 voucher. Thanks. -
LCentral has already 13 centres in Singapore, 6 overseas. Holland branch opened in May 2011 and though at a very short period of time… students have already increased gradually due to good parent refferals and good grades from previous yr students.
Please check with the centre manager in charge at 67781086.
Current teacher is Teacher Stefan from London, he has a first class honours in English and Creative Writing. So if you find you want somebody who can engage your child, whats better than having a native speaker who is fun and patient and small class size for easy focus on each individual child. -

Foundation/Launchpad are for younger children and they are promoted as and when the teacher finds the child is able to put what they have learnt to practice. The programme is by literacy level and not by age.Hi, can I check how fast can a child be promoted from foundation to the next level?
I am starting to feel that they will purposely extend the foundation period to generate more $$.
Do they promote by age or by capability?
If you need explanations, you can always check with the teacher. Teacher is only in charge of the programmes and not the $$ aspect. And they have head office to do checks as well.
Also, younger children have short attention spans which is why the centre always have small activities (learn through play) to keep the child occupied... it is not that the teacher is not \"teaching\" ... -
Any feedback for the Ang Mo Kio branch?

I am thinking of pulling out my K2 girl from ICR cos I find that the spelling is very demoralising for her. Just imagine that the max marks for a spelling is 3/10. Any recommendations for LCentral Jurong East teachers?
Huh? My kid is w ICR, just promoted, starting the level (not sure which level, the level before entering P1) in Apr 12. You mean the spelling is difficult? What are some of the words in there? -
Hi Dino mummy,
She’s in book 3 already and they have words like ‘gnome’, ‘though’. Decided to stick to ICR as one of my girlfriends told me that her P2 girl is having good results as a result of foundation in ICR. Anyway the teacher said that she is not concerned with the spelling. -
Feedback on kovan branch needed. Considering to enroll my 6 yr old to PFS @ kovan and 4yo to foundation level. Appreciate your recommendation of good teachers.
Thank you.
