Yes they are.. my 2nd and 3rd...
Ya haha.. \"old\" timer well... DLS standard is fairly high.. in terms of the mid yr n final yr exam...
since I knew abt the free exam papers from top sch, I have been giving it to my gal.. and gd thing abt DLS is.. they will usually have the paper 2 after the PSLE marking day which I personally felt it's very gd.. I took leave during those days to let her have exposure of those paper from other sch...
So far how she fair in those paper are more or less her DLS result sometime even better...
I hope this little sharing will help

Hi,
My girls will be in P1 next yr and we will be attending the orientation coming 17th. Does anyone has any clue what the kids will be required to do? Why the need to bring pencil/eraser/colour pencils? -
most likely they will be required to do some assessment test....
but i was just wondering why the need to do so since the kids
already know which class they will be in ..... :?
anyway, maybe edgem is able to advise mothers like us....

hi all
I've just joined this thread hoping to look for any parent whose child will be in P1 St Ignatius class next year. Good to build up the network now so we can start exchanging info next year or keep one another posted on happenings in our little precious' P1 life
-
Dear Parents..
Not to worry.. if I didn't remember wrongly... the stationery were just there to keep them occupied when the parents are there attending the talk with the principal...
The parents will be in the hall while the kids will be brought to their respective classes....

-
Yes, that's right. The children are brought around to familiarize
with the school compound and get to know the form teachers
for most school orientations. Children will be kept engaged in
fun activities in class and also get to know their classmates.
I also know some schools who have third party providers
coming in to do orientations with the children like a P1
crash preparatory class at a small fee.
My DD's school did orientation too back then but all materials
provided by the school. No need to bring anything.
She
found some friends from old school as well. So it was kinda
cool for her. -
oic....thought asking us to bring pencils, colour pencils and all are
for them to do some sort of assessment....
anyway, thanks for helping new mothers like us clarify....
i'm really quite excited about the orientation day anyway.....
seems more like me attending school instead of kiddo.... :rahrah:
btw, on average how much should we give kiddo for daily
pocket money?? does the orientation include bringing parents for a tour
to the canteen to check out selling price of food items???
i still can't figure out how much to give sonny.... :? -
:? I don't remember having it during my time though..., more like sitting in the hall knowing the what value the sch will instill in your child and their expectation ...
I gave my gal $1 when she was in P1.. normally they don't eat much, now that she is in P3 , I am giving her $2 cos a plate of chicken rice cost $1 I think...
Anyway the more you give, they will tend to spend it in the bookshop instead of eating :moneyflies: -
wow! $1 in P1..... i contemplated $0.80 but hubby said
very miserable and also if we give him $1, we can let
him learn how to budget..... do u think kids tat age able
to budget??? :?
is the food in DLS canteen pricey??? i heard fm my nephew
fm unity PS tat their school sells a bowl of fishball noodle with
two miserable fishballs & a couple of slices of fishcakes for
$0.50....am just wondering how many bowls of noodles
my kiddo must eat in order for him to be full....sigh.
or prob they will spend their time in the playarea playing
i/o eating la....
yes....heard many friends complaining about how kiddos
love to spend $$$ in the bookshop ....
