Appreciation is one that our DS has to learn but a teacher or the school as a role model for our DS has to show their responsibilities. Put it an example, as my DS join uniform group, they are suppose to dismiss at 12.30pm every Saturday but every time they dismissed after 1pm and anxious parents waiting at the carpark. If the members report late our Ds will get punishment and now they dismissed them late shouldnβd the teacher in charge get the punished because our Ds report late to the parents? As we parents also have other commitment, what if I have appointment at 1.30pm? It seems like it is already a culture. I told my DS never ever follow this footstep, if he has promised something make sure that he mean what he said, it is all about trust ,responsibilities and respect. Of cause we felt happy because our DS has grown up and know how to take care themself but what is important here is WHAT HAS IMPLANT in them. Sometimes I do wish staffs or teachers aware of this and change to be a better educator.

I felt angry with the posts too! Although my ds came home before 8pm, considered not being affected except tiring. So sad some ppl don't know appreciate.[/quote]Okay, I don't think it is an issue of ppl don't appreciate. But for lower secondary parents, it is a real issue of worry and concern turned into frustration because of the long wait or lack of information. But given the situation, there is not much time or resources to alert the parents, I guess.
Hi VeryKSMum, my DS is a student who attended the event, and he was very angry when he saw the post, and he told me everything that happened... He doesn't want me to say who he is though!mom23:

Welcome mom23 to KSP. Your very first post on the first hour after joining KSP. Just curious, how do you know so much of the details?
However, through this forum, parents could share and exchange information and have a better view of the overall picture.

This forum is great and really serves its purpose.. because now I am glad we get more or less the full picture & get to see + understand the different perspective of the event.. the difficulties/frustration/concern different parties are facing. Constructive feedback here is really appreciated, we parents also learn what other parents/DS(s)/school are facing... and ultimately, as parents, we all have the same purpose - we only want what's best for our children.

DS opted to take the school transport backed to HCI. He recounted the whole event to me via sms and requested to call a cab to take him home as he has graded assessment due the next day. I agreed and even suggested DS to offer his classmates a lift to the nearby MRT station so that everyone can get home early and safely. DS reached home at 9pm, settled down and started doing his homework at 10pm. He was very supportive of this event and told me Track and Field is very important to HCI. He is very proud of the seniors' achievements! :salute: Congrats HCI and well-done!

Season, suggest you write an email to feedback your concern but please do not generalized it as the school culture. Next time when your son go army, do not expect them to be released punctually also all the time. It is absolutely right to remind the kids to be punctual. -

My younger DS went for d 14 April SMOPS competition I felt even more strongly for d boys n sch when I saw how the boys put in every ounce of energy to run the events without any help fr their teachers( no HCI teachers r there , can see d trust d teachers n organizer has for d boys) . All logistic r done by them from load of buses reaching HCI , giving direction ,registration ,leading participants to exam class , refreshment for other sch teachers n parents, take charge of running the exam process to coordinating which sch buses to come in first to pick the participants.
So impressed by the boys n so thankful i was right in choosing d right sch , they have trained the boys so well not only academically but also leadership even there were some hiccup here n there.
This event is run by Aphelion consortium, think also NCC uniform group :udaman: :rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah: -
