It was disappointing to me because my first choice of pre-school for my boy was Learning Vision (but due to the lack of vacancies could not get into the branch in the polytechnic at YCK and also the one at the grassroot club). I read the back-ground that it was setup locally and was impressed at their standards. Next choice to me was Patschoolhouse due to the reputation and bi-lingual teaching. But the high school fees was definitely a strong deterent to me, besides the main-gate security which I was not comfortable with in the branch nearest to me. My greatest dissapointment came when I found out both LV and PSH were bought over by a foreign agency. Could not help wondering why our top brand names pre-school (something that we can be so proud of) will sell out?

Thank you James and all the mums/dads who also shared on the preschool hike in fees.

                    This is really so horrid.

will exclude these schools in my list and let all my fellow friends with young kids know about this!

                      Straits Times, 23 April 2012

Parents up in arms over pre-school fee hikes

Upset with frequent feehikes by childcare centres and kindergarten, a group of parents have started a petition urging the authorities to step in.

They are calling on the authorities to form a committee to oversee fee adjustments, and limit such increases to only once every two years.

These parents said the fee hikes - which can go up to hundreds of dollars - can be a financial burden on them.

They are especially upset with fee increases during the school year, which leave them little choice but to pay up to avoid the hassle of finding a new school.

                        Dear parents,

Thanks for your support. The petition has really got things going especially with article on Straits Times.

Please continue to show your support. I am targeting 200 petitions before sending to the ministers, I am currently only at 20-30. Please send this to your friends, fellow parents etc.

                        Regards,

                        James
