      Hi Sharmum

My girl is also in P2 next year…
The teachers in YMCA are very caring ,motherly type and the children love them. What I like about putting her in YMCA is that she finished all her school homework before going home so no need for me to worry about it , basically just need to go through her YMCA Communication book and school handbook.
In YMCA, after nap, they will first do their school homework and follow by assessments books (we have to buy EL, Maths and Chinese assessment books for her to do at the centre) which will be marked by the studentcare teachers. The teacher will also give them spelling based on the school's spelling lists. Sometime, they will go to mt emily park esp after CAs or SAs just to play and relax.

For preparing for CAs and SAs, the teachers will give them mock papers to do..
YMCA engaged an external provider to give English and Math tuitions once a week , not expensive as they are using the classrooms.
For coming school holiday.… YMCA has planned several activities for them.movies, science and magic workshops, Singapore discovery tour.
      Hi doraemo
Thanks for the helpful info ! My girl is in P2 next year too (currently 1 Devotion). As i am working and she refused to do homework or study when i am not around. So what i have is between 7:30pm - 9:00pm everyday when i have to rush her thru and at times she's very sleepy and complaint that she's tired....=(

After reading your post, i am very firm to enrol her into ymca next year so that homework and revision is done everyday and taken care of.....with all the activities i guess she will be very busy....

Btw, what time your girl session end ? At 4:30 or 6pm?

          Hi Sharmum

My girl is currently in 1 Patient. Don’t worry….your girl will be happy in YMCA eventually as she will get to know many friends…from different classes and even the seniors . The seniors will tell many things about the school.. so quite interesting..:) You may also check with your girl, am sure there are also a few of her classmates in YMCA . In my girl’s class there are 7 of them.
Have chosen the 6pm time as still need to fetch the younger girl (K1) from the childcare and also I reach home from work around 6.20pm ..

Yeah, there are many activities organised for them during the school holiday..even for the one week break..so no need to sign up for any holiday enrichment classes outside. I'm sure if you put her there, our girls will get to know each other very soon.

Wow, this is very good and i don't have to do marathon on weekend to rush her for enrichment class anymore and can have more time with her....

I heard from my neighbour whose girl's in 1 Patient - a lot of them score 100% for SA2 and mostly from this class and her daughter score 100% for English and Chinese ! I understand that their form teacher Mrs Ong always updates or communicate with parents. This is very important cos my girl's Form Teacher rarely replies my email or email me. So at times a bit frustrated cos their usually will have last mins notice on what to bring and what to wear and i have no way to clarify and once i had rush down to smith street to get a costume at 9pm when she only told me in the evening. I am really glad to see this link set up.....very informative !

Will keep you posted when i enrol my girl for YMCA. Thanks again for sharing !

                  Hi Plum-cake,

My daughter likes this teacher as she takes her words seriously. Just that at times I am unable to check and verify what did she convey to my daughter and we can response on the need on time cos at times they practice \"dermit point\" system or make them stand in class if they forgot to bring something and etc. Guess shes is rather busy as she's involving in alot of sports activities. Thus less time in communicating with parents. Your can check from SMPS web under \"People\" on the class teacher in charge by the class name.

But i personally felt that communicating and updating parents in very important. However, everyone differs.

Maybe kiasuparents shld get a booth today 😉

Hi Doraemo, thanks for the information about YMCA. It's really sounds good and at least I have a backup plan in mind. :celebrate:

Yes, so many counter to go right?

Not to worry, go thru the handout given during the orientation or letter from the school carefully. There should be a time-table on what to bring for 1st 3 days of school. Don't need to bring all.

For shoe is white school shoe, unless there's a change in the notice or can also call up the school to confirm.
