I trust my intuition a lot. If I feel that something is just not right after administering the medication to my child, I just go for a second opinion. Call me gan jiong but I would rather be safe than sorry. And 9 days is really too long for a fever to persist.

As we have trained personnel in the family, we will usually self medicate first and bring fever down quickly. If that doesn’t work for 2 days, I will go to the PD for very young kids and or to my trusty family doc for the older kids.

There is a time limit for effective self medication. 2 to 3 days max. No effect pls see PD. But if you can’t even bring down the fever with paracetamol and sponging ie. temp doesn’t go down at all after medication within the space of a day and kid is lethargic, please see the doc immediately.

If temp hits 39 and above, straight to kk. I would call to make sure the dr my kids have been seeing is on duty before going there.

While med takes at least 2 days to work, I would seek 2nd opinion for the peace of mind.

My experiences with a few gp over the last 1.5 years have not been that great.

Yes go to KK, it sounds like it is something that needs urgent care.
