Tutor VisualTextEducation: PSLE Maths and Science

Lynn2, I bought the book. It is not a thick book for S$40. It is not an assessment book or science guide books - those you can read up the science guide books thread. The book expects that content knowledge is already there, then it goes through a very systematic way to look at questions and identify clues/links how to map back to the concepts taught and then recall the keywords that can be used to answer the questions more precisely.
It is written more to the parents’ audience with some notes to parents here and there. I would say it is useful more for OE questions except for 1 or 2 more challenging MCQ questions.
In a more singlish way to explain, it is rather ‘cheem’ so probably a higher-ability child can read it and apply but it would be better if the parent can read, understand, digest then practise together with the child.
Just my 2cents worth.
Special thanks to Chenonceau for sharing this. -

after checking out the prices of the materials offered on the website, I found the pricing outrageous.
The materials are charged by the topic. Each topic is further divided into
1) Notes cum Worksheets
2) Assessment
3) Powerpoint Notes
each of the above materials will cost you money and it's not cheap. The Notes cum Worksheets type of notes costs $10, the Powerpoint Notes costs $8 and the Assessment costs $2.50. That's a total of $20.50 for just one topic alone, say Magnets. Imagine how much money you need to spend to cover the entire lower block science syllabus. They've divided the syllabus into 6 chunks. That's more than $120 for the entire syllabus. :yikes:
One can buy Science Guide books for less than $15 that covers the entire syllabus in Popular Bookstores. -
I would like to ask, some schools are using Mathematics Process Skills by Zenda Leu. I think it’s those think out of the box or heuristics questions.
1) Would these qns be examinable in the PSLE exams?
2) Does the child have to follow the steps to solve the problem?
3) If the child solves the problem using other methods that he/she can think of under stressful examination condition, would marks still be awarded?
TIA. -
Why does the electrostatic force of attraction decreases when the size of the ion decreases whereas when the molecules get bigger in a covalent compound, the intermolecular force of attraction increases? It sounds contradicting.
