My kid has attended writers toolbox for a year but din really see improvements. Though they get to write compo in class every week but teacher will just mark and return their compo on following week.

Think it will be good if teachers can call out individual students and point out their mistakes or explain to them on how they should improve so the students can understand better instead of simply making simple remarks/comments on their compo and expect them to read themselves.

          Hi,
not sure about the bishan and toa payoh branches but the MS in jurong east avenue 1 (yoHA@Jurong) is a waste of time and money. I regretted sending my dd to the center last year.

Did you talk to the teacher? Then she may pay special attention to your child. That is what I did. I won't say my DD improved a lot and lot but she gained the confidence for sure. She uses the creative phrases given by them sometimes in her school compo. Drawback is she forgets the creative phrases after a while. Dont know what to do for that.

Regarding Mindstretcher's impressive advertisement on their list of psle scholars, my friend said one of Mindstretcher's terms & conditions is that they can publish student's academic achievements even after that student left the center.

We were wondering... say if a student attended in p3 or p4 and withdrawn a few months later, if that student subsequently become psle scholar, would MS dig out that student's profile & claim credit? It seems entirely possible according to their terms & conditions, but it's really misleading in reality :yikes:

                yes, understand what you mean.

suppose a child attend MS only 1 Term, after that withdraw bec find programme not that suitable, or not much improvement even after attending. If this child later do well in PSLE, despite of studying only 1 Term or 1 month, does it mean that MS retain the right to publish this child’s name & school ?

                doesn’t make sense.
there must be a minimum period of time with MS, before parents allow them to publish child’s name out.

I am only speaking for myself.......not too sure about the rest.

I am not interested in the advertisement pertaining to which PSLE scholars attend which centers. Ones only advertise but no validity. Likewise for those who post one-sided comments coming from single poster, i will take it with a BIG pinch of salt. I am more inclined to look for teachers and centers' material that can matched the child's learning. Since there is no one size fit all centers. That is my takes.

I am not targetting anyone.....just my opinions on such advertisement. Also those PSLE scholars are already so smart, why they bother to have tuition? I might as well hear those real life stories whose students nearly flunked their exam but made a comeback because of the extra help from the tuition. This is more relevant to me lor. 😉

That is why I am appreciative towards \"established\" mummies/daddies here that share their real life experiences/ sharing pertaining to their DC on the centers. :please:

                    Hi all mothers,

Wonder if any of you encounter issue enrolling your child into the school but I did. It really upset me & my child. I wanted to enrol my child twice but was rejected because he failed his CA for math & SA for science. The reason is because the standard for this school is much higher than the school so my child cannot attend their lessons.
The impression they gave me is they only accept good students. Those child did not do well will have zero chance. The school concept is? Good grade can enrol? Low grade cannot enrol? They didnt even asked me how was his previous CA or give any trial test to check if my child is grade is really that bad or other reasons & reject the enrolment. The front officers are given the empowerment to reject enrolment? Are they qualify to do so? Than they should be conducting the lessons n not doing front line job. Sad that the school have such concept. So remember parents if your child grade is not good don’t think of enrolling to this school, it will upset you n your child. Btw the branch that I went is Yew Tee branch & the experience front line officer that reject after hearing my child result is Fiona(She doesnt want to tell me her name when I asked in the beginning, she insist not to tell me her surname and quickly walk into the office & called her manager & report it. Wonder why?)

That is why I’m upset about. They don’t even give him a chance but reject him upfront. Haiz! What to do? My child is lousy and don’t deserve their help. Anyway I wonder if MOE agree with them? Any one know how can I check if MOE?
