Thank you so much for confirming !tired mom:
Anyone went for RGS open house today? Was there any information whether RGS will be moving? will it be to a holding site?
Hi. I'm an RGS student and yes, RGS will be moving. but pertaining to that question, the new campus will be a permanent one but it'll most probably be only finished in about 2015 or so... Heard it's in Braddell but I'm not too sure
:thankyou: -
Hi there,
I'd just like to know whether it's easy for a student from RGS Year 4 to go to HCI Year 5 and likewise from NYGH Year 4 to RI Year 5?
What are the requirements? Vacancies? DSA?
Since both schools offered IP so what's the chances?
Thanks in advance

You're welcome.
I went in by PSLE. I didn't DSA for any schools, so I'm not really familiar with that.
And I'm not a gep student in rgs which means I didn't get 269 and above

Great to hear from a student's point of view and that you're enjoying yourself at RGS.Hey all, just wanna share my experience with you guys. I'm now a rafflesian in Year 1 right now and yep, I'm definitely loving raffles' life<3
NYGH had always been my dream school even until i got back my PSLE result. However, I ended up at RGS because my parents forced me, believing in my character suits there more. (And I'm so glad right now that they 'forced' me to come RGS)
First day at school, I was like 'Oh no, I'm screwed' 'Oh god, Im gonna die here' 'Crap, I hate raffles' because I never thought I will end up here. But guess what? By the end of orientation week, I changed my thoughts. I really really love Raffles<3
Hmmm, for academic, 1st semester had passed and i didnt really do quite well, probably because at least half of the subjects are new? But the teachers there are really awesome. They taught us how to be independent and yeah, what's in the textbook is definitely not enough, we gotta self-learn like do research at home and find out more.
Do ask your DD to come RGS if she's quiet and you want her to be active and hyper because RGS girls are really hyper^^ Our school spirit is really strong and yep, one thing i really like about raffles is HOUSE:D Raffles has the longest house history and annually, we have inter-house competitions such as Sports Fest, Cheerleading and so on to decide the overall house champion.
Raffles is really a big and awesome family so yep, hope your DD can join us. I'm sure she will not regret it(; -
Haha this thread is so interesting

thought i would share some of my views
If you ask me, of course, i definitely would say Raffles and most of my peers too. despite the work and the late nights, i would say, it really isn't that stressful. actually the work and tests are perfectly manageable with good planning and of course, Don't spend too much time on Facebook and other stuff (like me :P) that just leads to like 3am nights before submission of AAs ^^ and it will be almost like nothing, in year 1 anyway
i feel that the environment raffles creates is that we are all very self-driven and motivated to do our best and that's very important cos for lower sec science especially, self-directed learning is necessary and also, senior-junior relationships are...erm...quite good i guess  so they do help us when we need help with work basically.
and i feel that raffles really changes you (NOT meant to be that kinda cheesy cliche line, i mean it) its like after just half-a-year i feel so different, and so much more confident...at least i know what I'm working towards, its more than just results and academic excellence, its more like what you really want to achieve in life. my critical thinking skills seemed to have improved at any rate
(Not really related
)
but at the end of the day, i think, to choose a school, you really have to consider your DD's choice, i think that parents should guide them and come to a decision together, but try not to force them into a school if they're really against it. sorry no offence to wendyng0114, its just that most of the ppl i know who got forced into a school totally hates it now
I have one CCA mate who is trying to find a way to transfer to NYGH although her parents strongly disagree...and she's downright miserable...and yeah, try not to be led by the crowd, 'cos friends can be made!
and in RG, your peers are really awesome, we always go out and have fun together when we're free LOL ^^ in fact, all my best friends now aren't even those from my primary school though we're all in RG
i would just add factors to consider would be mainly the programs offered, and the culture of the school. really.
and just a tip for the interview~if asked about the choice of school thing, just answer honestly. answer everything honestly. RG likes that. My interview mates, one from NYPS said that NYGH was her first choice honestly another one from St. Hilda's said she wasn't sure yet and pretty much fumbled throughout the interview saying that NYGH and RGS both had their good points...the NYPS girl got in the St. HIlda's one didn't. though both are now in RG though
Oops sorry, for the super long post i sorta got carried away sorry!!!
