        Indian mother of two:
Hello, we live 1 - 2km from Haig Girls (my second choice) and >2km from CHIJ Katong (my first choice). We are Singaporeans Can i take the risk of going to CHIJ? or should i go straight to Haig Girls'?

        2011 balloting results
CHIJ Katong > 2km: high risk.

Haig Girls safer, easier to get in

Hello, we live 1 - 2km from Haig Girls (my second choice) and >2km from CHIJ Katong (my first choice). We are Singaporeans but since my husband and i did not grow up here, we are only eligible for 2C (our son goes to St Stephens) Can i take the risk of going to CHIJ? or should i go straight to Haig Girls'? Please advice as i am clueless with the registration system and don't want to jeopardize my daughter's education!

You may like to monitor the registration status of the two schools and decide on the third day which school you should go for.

Just a word of advise. I also did that last year when I register my dd and thought that I have a good chance of getting in without balloting as I monitored the number before I register. Went to register at 2pm. To my surprise, many parents appeared after 3pm resulting in a 50% overshot. We have no choice but to go for ballot as there was too little time to travel to another school and very disappointed we did not make it in the ballot. Chance wasted.

            2 pm … still early.

The "difficult to decide" ones monitor status closely at home, busy calling up schools check on status.
On 3rd day (last day of registration), towards the "end of day closing time",people rush down last minute to register, try to make it on time.

Based on past years stat, one will not need to ballot under 1km from Ngee Ann. I just hope the same for this year under Phase 2C.

I think this year, Marymount, St Margaret, Haig Girls hot.

Since this year priority been allocated to Singaporeans - PRs not much choice to enter popular, branded schools. So some PRs may just head straight for Marymount / St Margaret (affliated to Secondary), "chope" seats first. This year interesting to watch which school(s) become popular, due to ruling change shift towards SC.

                      Can someone pls advise… tia.

I cfm will get a place for one of the schools under phase 2A. However I would prefer to send my boy to Temasek simply becos his ah ma is the main caregiver and stay within 1km from the school. I know that have to do SD and will fall under 1-2km under phase 2C. Since 3 days are given, how should i "strategise" and what should I do to know if I got any chance anot?

Is it not possible to arrange for transport from your alma mater to the caregiver's house? :scratchhead:
