NH balloting at 1km at 2b…the rest no chance
-
Yes 4 blocks of the Parc is within 1 km, also it is a higher high rise (much higher than botannia and carabelle) so the population is larger. I think its not so much how many SC and foreigners are in the estate but that my guess is however lesser SC there are in these condos, they will want their kids to be in NH. I have two friends in Carabelle and all their kids goes to NH.
Also dont forget there is Faber Crest and Parkwest, I also have a friend in Parkwest and her kids goes to NH too. Even though it is very old, it is within stone throw of NH and is very much cheaper than the other condos (in terms of psf).
I can imagine that competition will just ever tougher with Hundred Trees being ready by next year (already those who bought will be eligible for 1km). Hong Leong Gardens (next to Hundred Trees) have also been enbloc and the plot of land opposite Regent Park right next to NH has also been sold awhile ago and will certainly be a high rise condo.
Actually my concern is how are the kids going to study when the new condo is being built right next to the school.
Anyway, when my turn comes in 2years time, I may just send my boy to Clementi primary to avoid all the stress. -
How ab Qifa?

How ab Qifa?
I live within 1 km of Qifa in West Coast and that's where we will be applying in 2C. The immediate area around the school is heavily Chinese but draws in a more diverse student population from the nearby HDB flats along West Coast Road and across from Ayer Rajah Food Centre. There are many new condos built in West Coast since 2005, with more coming soon. Most of the kids there are not SC and many go to international schools (esp. Japanese). In Monterey Park alone, where I live (280 units), there are a significant number of Japanese, and also mainland Chinese, Russian, Brazilian, various northern European, and occasionally American and Australian. Most of these are renters.
As for Qifa's academics -- the top 10 PSLE scores from the school are published on its website and they seem consistent with entry into the top 10 secondary schools.
I expect the school to fill up considerably in 2C...may have a few places left for 2C supplemental, based on history. -

1.\tNan Hua Balloting will be conducted for SC children residing within 1km of the school. -
phtthp:
I see they had more applications in 2B (35) than available spaces in 2B+2C combined (32). Any non-SC and anybody outside of 1km don't stand a chance in 2C. Clementi will likely fill up in 2C, and maybe even Qifa based on recent history.Phase 2B balloting on Wed, 25 July (for 2013 P1 intake: kids born 2006, year of puppy)

Just to share. There were 28 applicants within 1km in this phase 2B ballot exercise against 16 seats available. As mentioned in previous post, all are SC.
This year all schools will use "ball and cage" system like how bingo games are conducted. No parents will be "drawing" from this year onwards, unlike some schools who done so last year. NH drawing of the numbers were done by the board/school committee.
Understand initially there were 25 PVs in total and 37 GRL who are eligible to apply. How many of the GRL turned up, I don’t have any idea. -
