can I check if PSLE result 261 should apply and try for NYGH?

I personally feel that for girls of 260-270 range, NYGH should be a good choice.Last year heard of student with 259 + 2 that was not successful but later got through on appeal.

I would like to check with you if Nanyang Girls also offer O level as well as IP track.

I think I read somewhere that IP track is only for GEP students whilst the others will take O level. Is this informaton true?

From what you have written, I think Nanyang Girls will be a better choice for my daughter. She obtained 270+ .

Thanks a lot for your advice.

How about River Valley High School? Compare with Nanyang and Raffles Girls, is the school academic/non-academic std far off from these two school? Does anyone that scores above 260 and apply for RVHS?

Hi, Iโ€™d like to know what time does school start at NYGH. Iโ€™m staying at Woodlands and would like to know how long does it take to commute from my place to the school and also how to get to the school from Woodlands. TIA.

They do not offer O level now (so everyone will go through the IP programme) but girls still have to take the O level for Chinese.

My daughter got a score of 266, with a merit in HCL which would make her score to a 268. She cannot decide between Nanyang Girl's High or River Valley High. The pros and cons (according to her anyway ๐Ÿ˜„) are as stated below:

P/S: Since we are Singapore PRs (Malaysians), my daughter is not entitled to any scholarships from MOE

                  Nanyang Girls' High

                  Pros
: Girls school, good reputation, she likes the uniform and name, she told many people she wanted to go there already.
Cons: Expensive school fees (she is considerate), she does not like HCJC, classroom is non-airconditioned and is like a basement

                  River Valley High

Pros: Brand new school campus, air conditioning in the class room (is it true? she likes to study in a comfortable place), cheap school fees, she has friends there.
Cons: It's MIXED, she doesn't like the uniform and the name, she doesn't want to disappoint the seniors she knows in NYGH, stress.

Based on the above and your knowledge about the 2 schools, can you give my daughter and i some comments about which school she should go to?

PP/S: do you know if RV's new campus allows visitors? I hope you can tell us that because it would help her decide better.

Thanks in advance!! (I'm a new user here :D)

                  :celebrate:
Have you consider the JC years?

Really need advice... It's a place where a child studies for 4 years! Any reply at all is greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ˜„

                    :? :? :?
If it's my daughter, I will go for Nanyang for the simple reason to minimise the risk of BGR thingi which will cause distractions ...

                      I will choose Nanyang.

Simply because when they are in their teens, they wil be facing BGRs issues.

Thatโ€™s why I have made it very clear to DS and DD that they will go to a single sex secondary school.

yup, makes sense. for some reason, i always think that those in single gender schools will fare better. but rv has new campus? (probably with air-conditioning and if the weather is hot, i guess it helps the student to concentrate better) i know that's a really bad reason but still.. haha

                        :?:
