Can I ask for some feedback from parents with children in P3/P4/P5/P6 in Berries? I have heard on 2 separate occasions from a Chinese tutor and from another primary school Chinese teacher that Berries is good for pre-school and lower primary level, but not adequate for higher primary level, especially composition. Is that true? They told me that other tuition centres like Jiang Lao Shi or Han Language Centre may be better for P3 and above.

My eldest is in Berries now and enjoying it, so a little reluctant to transfer him out to other enrichment centres when he reaches P3.

My niece is currently in P6 and my boy is currently in P5. Both are in Berries HCL classes. I actually find the composition materials extremely good. I am sorry I cannot do any comparisons with centres like JLS or Hans; but so far from what I see, Berries has worked well for both my niece and my boy who can follow through the fast pace in class and able to do their own revision and follow-up at home based on Berries materials.

However, I do feel that Berries doesn't work very well for students who cannot follow through the fast pace in the class especially when it comes to higher primary. My nephew is such an example. Hence, it works better to find him a strict tutor who actually will drill and grill him every week. This method on the other hand will not work well with my niece and my boy at all.

Hi usaik, glad to see your feedback on berries. As I have 2 kids in berries since they were in K1... My eldest one now is in P1 and is enjoying her class so far. Thus have been reading reviews saying that berries might not be too good for primary level as they do not have spelling, show and tell session....was in a fix months ago...cause I am also quite reluctant to change school for my girl as she is enjoying the class so far.

Any more mummies whose kids are in upper Primary in berries can share ur feedback on the school?

Thanks
Hi
We are big fans for Berries:>
My elder kid has been w Berries since K2, he is in P4 now. They do have spelling n dictation. I wld say the materials is quite good...
And I agree the compo guide provided by them is good too...if u r focusing on just compo, then you wld need the compo class and not the general chinese class. If you want to strengthen compo, can take their compo class or join another center. Our schedule cant take Berries' compo class so my kid is w another center for compo and compreh.
Best of all, he does not detest attending the Berries class, he has been w the teachers for years.
My younger one is also w Berries. this is his 2nd year. He is in K2. Altho' he has some difficulty in following, he oso enjoys the class. And I can see improvments in his chinese.

Hi

thinking of starting my girl on berries. She is K2 next year.

will likely be at Alexandra. the good thing is that as this center is new, most of the classmates should be non-berries student in the past few years. was concerned that she will feel lousy if the class were full of berries students… her chinese isn’t that good.

the fees for K2 have been adjusted to $460 / term… is this correct? are such fees considered "reasonable"?
