All About T-Score
-
Grade and T score is different. Grade is the raw score which is converted to T score. The T score is an indication of how well your child did compared to other children taking the exam. Take it as ranking rather than your child's performance. My DS3 scored 3A* and 1 A but get lower score than his friend who get 2 A* and 2 A. Another child scored 9 points higher though she get the same grades as DS3. Anyway, knowing DS3 normal performance, I know his 2 A* are of a lower range. Example, if the raw score of 90 and above is A* for science and DS3 scored 91, it is translated into a low T score while if his friend scored 91 for Maths but the raw score is 85 and above for A*, his T score will be higher.
There's no way you can review the score cos it is calculated based on the raw score and the results of the whole cohort.

I am a worried mother. My daughter is very strong in languages but she is frightened of maths. We have tried different tutors and we all agreed she can do some sums at home but not the same sums in school , maybe due to stress and fear. Because of this, she got a* for cl, a for el, a for sc and B for maths. T score 237
anyone aware whether the t score this year is generally lower than previous 3 years for eg.
most of the schools she aimed for around 240 to 245 are now out of her range.
i am so lost and dont really know whether i should still try st margaret, or crescent for first choice or give up and just choose clementi or commonwealth.
anybody can share? :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: :stupid: -

Everyone write so much... :goodpost:
Good Old Days ….used cycle to school and back …lunch ..then soccer/hockey/badminton from 4pm to 7pm ….dinner …watch TV…good night sleep.CrazyDad:
I still like to good old time, when we just go to the school near by. And parents not even care what is going on, as long as there is no red color in the report book. :celebrate:
Seasonal period …can play “guli”/marbles, “gasing”, fly kite and many more … -
good old days are hardly possible now.
nearby neighbour schools are schools with relative good t scorce to get in.
even the neighbour like commonwealth and clementi town is high too.
seems like more options in the east and north/
anyone can answer if the avg t score this year is lower?
anyone with similar experiences like me? :?: :?: :?: :?: -

Gathering from another thread that a score of 249 is among 10% of the cohort, I think it the average T score is lower. Does anybody has any info on lower score being among top 10%? DH thinks that there is a very small percentage of students scoring above 280 (less than hundred?). Therefore, there is a wide difference in the no. of students with score of 270 - 290 and the rest of the cohort. It may be the Maths moderation effect. This will raise the hope of many parents to get their children into their dream school with higher COP than their DD/DS score. :celebrate:
Just heard from DS3 that he knew which school the student with the lowest score is from.
It seems that the poor child is taking it in his/her stride and the classmates' hearts go out to him/her. I'm impressed with their maturity. :salute: -
Is it true if you are offered 3rd language, you are within 10%?
My daughter only got 237 +2 and she is offered third language too.
Her t score is pulled down by maths, maths has always been her weakness and feared subject. Tried all tutors and ways to take away her fear from maths but i guessed it didnt succeed.
