      Fairy:
That means this year's ESSIS cut-off is not 264, as claimed by ACSI.

Please also checked if the child is in GEP or mainstream. GEP students do not have any cut-off for ESSIS. Only mainstream students are subjected to the cut-off.

        Hi,

Any idea if it is difficult to get into Guitar Ensemble in RGS? Will there be any audition? How is the practice frequency like?
        Hi Fairy,

        Congrats & welcome to RGS.

Thanks, Dharma, for the link. However, I realised there's not much info on RGS' website.

            1. actually they are quite lax about the hair, but fringe cannot go over eyebrows, though if you put it behind your ear when a prefect comes then she won't book you.

            2. no
            3. must be 80% white
            4. not really
            5. there is a school sweater which can be bought during orientation i think, but most of the girls stop wearing it cos you have to pull it over your head and it's really troublesome

hope to see your daughter in rgs!
            Hi julieann,

Thank you so much for the info. My daughter will be very dissapointed that she can't continue wearing her ankle socks. It's a small matter to me though. I have more queries about RGS. Hope you can enlighten me.

Do we get the booklist, order books, purchase uniforms, all in one day during 23Dec09 when we report to the school we're posted to? If so, I need to write down the list of books my elder child already has so as not to end up with two sets of the same book. By the way, does RGS year 1 uses Animal Farm or To kill A Mocking Bird as their lit books? How about Science Books? Will it be refered to during lesson? Or are they just for reference?

For uniforms, what is the recommended no. of sets to purchase?

By the way, my daughter did not participate in RGS' DSA. She has therefore not been offered a place yet. I believe she should be able to have her school of choice. However, many of her friends are joining NYGH. We're beginning to be unsure if we've made the right choice. She likes both schools.

My daughter has a place under DSA which she accepted. Her t score 257. I’m concerned that she may not be able to cope. Can anyone help to shed some light on cases such as this, and how I can help boost her confidence ?

Is she a GEPer? If so, it should be ok lah. Mine is from the mainstream. Although her T-score is very high, I am worried she might not be able to cope with the way the lessons are carried out and subjects like RE & Philo. Many of the skills acquired under the GEP are very useful in Raffles Programme.

Not to worry. In my son class in RI, the top students with GPA above 3.6 are all below the COP of RI. They are mainstream students and also get in thru DSA and appeals.

                      Hi Fairy,

Yes, you’ll get booklist and can purchase books from Popular bookstore on 23 Dec 2009. Bibi & Baba will also be there for uniform purchase.

                      Pinafore + blouse – (2~3 sets).
                      Culottes + PE T-shirt/shorts – ( 1 ~ 2 sets) ...normally worn on Tuesdays + CCA days on Sat

Lit text for Sec 1 in 2008 – To Kill A Mocking Bird. You have to check booklist to make sure.

Science Text books are only for reference & are optional.

Understand that one needs to submit personal statement + sit for General Ability Test as required by RGS for those who did not apply DSA, even though posted by MOE. What is this personal statement? Will the student get rejected by RGS if she scored poorly in the GAT or not producing a good personal statement?
